Model:Cycles only music

Thanks! I am glad you enjoyed it.

Sure, this setup is pretty basic: mono Cycles voice goes in series through the Morphagene for octaved and reversed granularization. Then goes into phaser, Erbe-Verb (for stereo widening) and 4ms DLD (constantly switching playback between reverse/forward) at the end. So the main fx parts here are Morhagene and DLD, taking sparse Cycles notes (“Chance” parameter on every track was set to 1% - it gave this video its name btw) and mirroring and echoing them to create something like a sound maze.

Good amount of modulation from Maths was adjusted to change phaser, reverb and delay parameters.

A little bits of human voice from 4ms STS I added just to give this composition little more liveliness and human feeling - something like fragments of distant memories maybe.

Sounds super rad! “1%” made me think of the semi-recent American wage gap argument. Trig chance is much funner than that. Keep it up.

I am having so much fun with this thing! Might start thinking about putting together an EP or something

Very cool :sunglasses: - you got a lot of mileage out of a single page on a single pattern.

Cheers! I really like the x:y and fill/~fill tools for writing rhythms, they make 1 page big enough to write an 8-bar loop with a&b sections imo

Second song from Elektron Model: Cycles
This one also uses MIDI Out to a Patchblocks synth in the 2nd half of the song and a Reason Rack Extension synth “Nostromo” for central lead line

Edit: this track isn’t purely model cycles so any suggestions where to post tracks like this in the future gratefully received. I’m new to the forum.

Hi! During my holidays I could only carry one box and I picked the Model:Cycles. It was very interesting to try and create a track solely on the M:C, and learn how to play it live.
It’s recorded live into a Zoom H2n. I plan on uploading the live video alone very soon.
I look forward to pairing it with the Subharmonicon!

Did you use chord inversions p locked to steps to get the sound of playing the individual notes of a chord one after another? Sounds really good one way or another.

Sorry, not used to this forum, are you talking about my post?
If so, thanks a lot! And are you referring to the last part with the “kind of vocal” glitchy tone? Or the first chords that run through the entire song?
For the latter it was just a chord machine played as unison (x2 or x3 if I remember well), played on the keyboard. For the sounds at the end, it was a chord machine with the crazy random shape LFO patched to the shape of the chords.

Cool, thanks. The whole thing sounds very cohesive.

Recently got a M:C and really having a blast with this little box. This is mostly various Tone machines, a kick and chord engine. I guess i’m in my honeymoon period with Elektron right now!

I’ve got a new toy!

On this one I used The NDLR’s sequencer parts to jam with the Model:Cycles sounds until I found a loop I liked.

I then recorded this into the Model:Cycles and took advantage of p-locks, chance, and conditional trigs to create some variation and randomisation.

When I was happy I jammed some more and filmed the result.

Think I have actually found the perfect workflow for me, these two machines are a match made in heaven!

Second day with the Model:Cycles. It’s my first Elektron. Still learning, but loving it so far. Here’s a jam:

…and another one, using 2 chord machines as drones.

Another ndlr & model:cycles jam. Really loving this duo, so inspiring and I don’t think I’ve ever been as productive!
