Ha ha that snare is massive. I was kinda disappointed with the snares on this thing mainly cause i was going through all the preset snares and thinking “well these are all good sounds but i wouldn’t call any of them snares” and then i just started to play with the default snare machine and tweaking it to get the sounds i want.
New Track i did. This time used the drone thing that’s been discussed on this forum where you lay down a trig and set the trig to infinite and the trig condition to “first”. What’s fun is when you do that you can still twist knobs and record motion sequence, and what’s really really fun is you can then mute the track and it will still drone on based on when you stopped it in the sequence. Hope y’all enjoy.
Went for something halfway between ambient and trip hop on this one. Kinda took inspiration from the Bowery Electric album ‘Beat’.
Hope you enjoy! Headphones recommended
Yebisu303 performing with M:C and a Pioneer DJ FX unit. Shame about the room mic but a really cool set.
This is nice
Hi,
One modest videos with only Model:Cycles
They are other video with only MC on my channel but I don’t want flood the thread
Hope you enjoy
Cool bass sounds.
I’m a big fan of the arpeggios. Right on.
Also big fat bass.
this is nuts. i tend to go for more clicky minimal autechre-style sounds. one of my favorite snares that ive made is:
pitch = 9.5
decay = 7
color = 112
shape = 122
sweep = 22
contour = 46
delay = off
reverb send = 48, size = 73, tone = 45
lfo = off
vol+dist = 91
the envelope lfo on decay with a reverse depth of a small amount also helps. somewhere around x64 or maybe x32
just a quick demonstration i threw together in a couple minutes out of a few patterns but i wanted to highlight the sort of sounds i think the Cycles excels at:
I’ve just been musing on the Autechreability of the MC, I’ll give this a go when I get a few minutes.
same, its my main goal. im gonna give it another try too. i’ll see if i can make a nice big autechre kit and play around with that
Yes, you can do good stuff on the MC close to Autechre territory
The tone machine alone gives a lot of possibilities
Something I’m working on…
The others are good too.
Hello,
Beatless ambient jam on the model:cycles. All the music was ‘written’ by the ndlr, and recorded into the cycles sequencer for further manipulation.

I thought it would be fun to use Model:Cycles as the only sound source for this cameraless film project. Since the visual source material is all analogue, I liked the idea of contrasting it with digital sounds. Additional processing via Tascam Portastudio 414mkII and Ableton Live.
Cool! To me, this has some stuff in common with the marketing that Elektron did around the release of the model:cycles. Neat that that inspiration seems to have been shared/spread. (:
Freddy Wallin’s animations for Elektron are amazing. Definitely a rich source of inspiration, along with Ruff Mercy and of course, the cameraless film pioneer Len Lye.
Ruff Mercy must be one of the most inspiring voices in the motion graphics / video design game right now. Def is for me, at least.
