Say no more, I’m in! And fuck it, I’ll bring the dip.
At this point, I’m really mostly interested in this as a kickstand. I’ve had my M:S since the Spring and I have yet to bring it anywhere there isn’t an outlet, so portable power would be nice but not necessary.
That being said - has anyone found just a handle/stand that fits into the M:S handle ports?
Not Specific for the model series, but have A look at the IKEA ISBERGET stand… cheap… also recommend on this forum a lot, I use them too
Given this is a bit DIY, you could always make it without the batteries ?
January is the two year anniversary of the M:S announcement. Here’s to another year of hope.
The hollow plastic tube of hope
My take on why the battery handle is not coming:
If you have the battery handle attached, the M:S/M:C won’t fit into the carry bag that Elektron made specifically for the Models, due to the power cable sticking out from the side in the handle design.
If they release the battery handle as designed, they will be selling two portability-focused accessories that cannot be used together, with all the shame and the customer complaints that would entail.
They haven’t found a solution to this yet (and they likely won’t), so it is probably just getting the «AirPower-treatment».
If you have the battery handle attached, the M:S/M:C won’t fit into the carry bag that Elektron made specifically for the Models, due to the power cable sticking out from the side in the handle design.
The bag has a velcro opening on the top left side that looks like it’s there for just this purpose.
That cord sticking out of one side it’s the most stupid product design ever…
Well, that after having USB power available and instead add TWO DC inputs… smh…
If someone can make these, I would buy one. I’d make one myself, but don’t have a 3D printer. I really think that, after this long, we won’t ever see one from Elektron.
Lurking as I haven’t been active as much on the forum.
Shocked that this isn’t actually made yet!
Any news on the battery handle for the Model Series?
It has been 2 years since the announcement
Well, Elektron’s hiring a new CEO. So that’s news, I guess.
New CEO -
“Okay, so you had this Overbridge thing going. And that was delayed like for … years? Well, that happens. Not often. But it happens. Then you got this battery handle thing on its way and that’s delayed for … uhm, also years? Okay, people, who’s doing these estimates? You know the difference between a year and a month, right? Oh, you don’t. That’s why I’m here? I see.”
Good point.
Initially I thought that the delay was due to some compliance issue with EU regulations, but than I saw the product advertised on the Elektron store and I cannot explain such a long delay.
The only thing I know that is most probably bad product management.
Oh, for sure. I’ve been in product dev for my entire career, and I’m old shit.
Hey, Elektron. Here’s how it works -
You schedule what you know.
You schedule to deal with what you know you don’t know.
You assume to re-schedule when all the things you can’t even predict you don’t know, will surface.
First part, anyone can do.
Second part, anyone with a project or two on their CV, can do.
Third part, only vets and people with some humility can do and not blow the deadline with years.
And an appendix to the above -
You goddam listen to the people who’s actually building the stuff you want to sell. They’re almost always right, especially when their truths are uncomfortable. Though not as uncomfortable as when it catches up with you cause you didn’t listen.
the mistake was to not build it into the model series in the first place even if that added a few bucks to the cost. gimmick stuff belongs to TE
Agreed. I wouldn’t care if my M:S was a little larger to make room for both batteries, and real Midi ports. I hate adapters/dongles.
