I heard it runs on battery juice, and we all know there has been a shortage of that stuff.
there are rechargeable batteries, saves a lot of money in the long run too.
i actually prefer devices that use standard batteries, because, well… it`s a standard and you can get them anywhere from lots of different manufacturers.
I think we’re saying it would be better if the handle could be plugged in to recharge the batteries, rather than having to charge them elsewhere. It would be amazing if the massive delay to this is because they’re upgrading it to accommodate this. Fingers crossed.
For my Model:Cycles, everything must be glorified
For the simplest product they have longest waiting times… this was anounced 18 months ago.
If they dismiss this product they should at least let the people know.
Right on.
Is this ever gonna happen?
Does seem crazy for something already designed and going to use normal batteries to put in it. Lol
Tbf just plug the thing in where I’m sat
Yeah, I think it’s about time they say what’s up… but now I am broke anyways and my Model is being in repair. So I don’t care.
Got the same powerbank - how long does it work? 10Ah, right? @TheGhostCat
Not sure, haven’t done the math, but I don’t think I could run out of power in a day if I tried. I regularly run two pieces of gear for 6+ hours at a time and I don’t charge every day or really worry about it.
I chuckled when I read your username after reading your post.
will that power bank work for an mpc one as well?
I’ve just got my M:S out of the box after several months and I’m excited to get into the Elektron workflow again but I have to say I’m shocked to read that the battery handle still isn’t available. I also can’t be the first person that thinks it was a big mistake to not be able to power this via the USB port. I know I can use a power bank but I still need a dedicated USB-to-barrel cable whereas we’ve all got generic USB cables lying around. I also can’t use the class-compliant audio into Bitwig although it works fine in Ableton so not sure whose problem that is. Still, if I want to record my jams easily I can just use my old freebie copy of Ableton Live Lite.
Having a built-in rechargeable battery and USB power would have been great for usability and I have to agree that this seems like an insane delay for a tube that carries AA batteries but, all said, it’s still a great little box with endless potential. Competition is getting fierce with these small boxes, I wait with great anticipation for Roland TR-6S which can take AA batteries (although only 5 hours use or so) and streams multiple audio channels over USB.
Whoever’s the product manager for that battery handle, must be walking around with a cup of coffee at the Elektron offices every day, wondering what the hell is going on, trying to make sense of it all.
“It’s even in that ad we released with the Model:Cycles box. It’s right there, people, I’m telling ya. I can see it. It’s right in front of me.” And HR at Elektron goes, “Hush now, Bjoern Lars. Come here. The Overbridge team could always use another fellow like yourself. Off you go. No, you don’t need any keys to your new office. Like the rest of the Overbridge crew, we’ll unlock and open the door and give you fresh air three times every day, together with your meals. Take care now.”
M:S and M:C came out roughly a year apart in January/February, right? Maybe there’s a third Model: coming out in a few months, and they’re holding off to announce the handle at the same time? Just spitballing.
I think it is a production/supply chain issue due to the Pandemic
A lot of companies are having supply chain issues
Because of the wait, they should make the battery pack free of . . . charge.
[I’ll show myself out]
They should at least release a battery handle sample pack!
