Model:Samples Feature Requests Thread

  • Phone transfer app, multi platform !

  • Adding sampling to the Model:Samples, from USB ( like the OP-Z can after 1.2.5 update ) … That way you could sample material sound running on phone, f.i. !

(- I guess this is delusional, but the ability to drop in DSP binaries as effects could be much fun)

thank you, I somehow missed that reading the manual.
That said, I think a straight on/off LFO functionality would be way more usable for performance. So instead of resetting the LFO settings, once you dial something in, you should be able to turn that setting on/off more easily, especially on the fly.

Yeah, agree!

Not sure if mentioned before but:

Would be lovely to have a smaller font == longer filename view for sample names (same size as the folder name). It could just be on top of the “large” version. Right now many samples are impossible to diff names of - and it’s tedious to start renaming everything

Have the MS recognized as Mass Storage Device when connected via USB.

If the MS could be recognized as USB Mass Storage Device when plugged into a computer, samples could be dragged and dropped and maps could be easily edited and rearranged on the fly. It would greatly streamline an otherwise cumbersome process without the need for yet another program.

Would be super nice! Could easily setup rsync or similar to handle backups / syncing samble lib etc.

Transfer converts samples to the proper format for the m:s, so while it’s use is cumbersome sometimes, many users would likely load a bunch of incompatible samples straight into the machine without it or need an additional program to convert them beforehand.

As far as I know, one complication there is you can’t have it as USB Class Compliant for MIDI and Audio device AND a Mass Storage Device. You could have a setting on the M:S to switch between the two, but that would add complexity.

It’s a limitation inherent with the Mass Storage Device option, when you’re in Mass Storage, you can’t do the other things the USB is capable of.
However just having the Mass Storage ‘option’ makes a device instantly more versatile.

I don’t know the technical requirements to make it happen, but if it’s possible then why not offer it? Why cripple a feature?

I have several devices that provide me with the Mass Storage option and while I may not always need it, it’s really handy that it’s there.

Imagine I had to use separate software for each and every device; can you see how things would get really cumbersome?

Well, you indeed summed up why the good people at Elektron made the Transfer software. If you just want to take a bunch of samples and throw it at the M:S then Transfer will take care of that.
But what about if Transfer doesn’t work on my computer? Maybe I’m still working on a 32bit machine or Linux or maybe I only have an Android tablet or…

The Mass Storage option doesn’t only make for easy access, it also makes it virtually universal.

I am, transfer works fine on it.

I was merely trying to point out that a significant function of transfer that people seem to forget is sample conversion, not just transferring samples from point a to point b, hence its necessity. But, if mass storage device functionality is important to you, who am I to say otherwise. Maybe it’ll happen.

It does?
Elektron states that 32-bit architectures are not supported.
I’ve tried installing Transfer 1.2.2.9 with no luck, all I get is a message telling me that ‘This installation package is not supported by this processor type’.

Probably been mentioned before, but I would really like to see values for track level and pan. I find it strange that an Elektron device doesn’t have this functionality.

I run transfer off an old 32 bit netbook that is far under the elektron minimum suggested spec. The unsupported 32bit applies to Mac only I believe. It is unfortunate you couldn’t get it working for yourself and I understand why this would have you wanting the +drive to be a mass storage device on the m:s.

I would love Mass Storage option for transfering from a mobile phone or tablet. Nowadays you can record and edit on the phone on the road. But then I need a PC to get it to the M:Samples.

Or is there already a clever solution?

I’d love the sample browser to look/act like it does on DT/DN. Seeing one folder/sample name at a time makes navigation harder than in needs to be. It would also be great if samples supported tagging so you could easily scroll all your bass drums, etc.

MUTE MODE per pattern pleaseeee

renewed faith that they will give us a Live Record Sample Slot switching!!! Like on the Digitakt

Imperative queries : :innocent:

  • Amp Attack (because loosing the only modulator just for that is sooo frustrating)
  • Mute mode (because switching patterns makes no sense without it)
  • Step preview +/or Chromatic edit (the ability to access chromatic view to change a note on a step)

For the more “artistic” queries :

  • Retrig+Pattern acting like a beat repeat by retrig the current step (?)
  • Pan Parameter Lock (please)

It exists a PC to select a dedicated preset. all other CC are track dependent.
Please add PCs or CCs to control :frowning:

  1. main output,
  2. pan,
  3. Current track
  4. and other global parameters as device usb mode (A+M or M), etc.

Same request for Model:Cycles.
