When I am jamming on the M:S I am having a problem when the song’s tracks are comprised of several long loops – when I switch between the tracks the loop is triggered when I touch the pad for that track. Does anyone know how to ‘enable’ a track without triggering the sound of that track (or without restarting that loop)?
besides the fact that m:s and the overall concept is way more versatile and suitable for one shot samples, this also includes the basic fact that u’ve transferred successlfully some sample content via transfer already…ok…so far, so good…
but at the same time ur still not aware of the most basic functions on this machine…!?
how did u get this far and that short at the same point in time…?..
u see me honestly impressed…no kiddin’…ur livin’ proof that anything can happen and everythig is possible…
Function + track will enable the track but when you touch the track to enable it then it will restart the loop – and that’s fine if I touched it perfectly in time and at 100 velocity – but that probably won’t happen
What is the basic function here that you’re referring to? Switching tracks? I can, of course, do that, but when I do the loop is restarted and out of time and at a lower velocity. Is there a way to switch tracks without triggering it? Just kind of jump from track to track without triggering its playback?
Ok… then I must admit that I do not understand your question. I use many long samples (several up to 2 minutes), and do not see am the issue your asking about.
OK – say Track 1 is a 10 second loop, and I play the song and am jamming – and Track 2 is enabled and I’m messing with its parameters. But say I am in the middle of a the pattern and want to switch to Track 1 to mess with its parameters, but when I press FUNC + T1 and enable that track then I hear that sample and its start is retriggered – in the middle of that pattern’s sequence – but I don’t want it to be; I just want to engage with that track’s parameters without triggering its sound’s playback.
…ok…i see…but keep in mind, m:s is not intended to handle longer phrases, containing musical grid relevant textures in first place…
it’s perfect for letting the sequencer taking care of musical structure and pulling all strength out of sample content that has NO repetative relevance within itself…
it’s made for creating loops out of lot’s little sample pieces…no to “replay” already existing sampleloops…
for the problem with different velocity, i’d say set padvelocity to a fixed level…
since u seem to use complete musical phrases, the option to just hit the pad and hold it, so it’s not picking up any further trigs from the sequencer, is no solution for u…because this way it triggers the sample one last time…
…in the end, what u want from the m:s is octatrack terretory…
or learn it as a truu music instrument and get more into fingerdrumming practise with proper timing…
