Modern DX7 patch finding/sharing

Hi!

There’s a ton of synths that load the DX7 file format – Opsix, FM8, obv. Dexed, EssenceFM… Now PLAITS, the euro module.

There must be an audience for DX7 patches with a more modern aesthetic as the pile of devices just grows.

Do you know if there are any existing patch repositories that are usable? The ones I’ve seen usually have huge (tens of thousands) patch dumps with little curation.

Should we share some here?

The site linked below has worked well for me in the past, haven’t used it lately. Note that sometimes the files are broken, but most of what I tried worked.

There used to be downloads of individual soundsets possible, but that option doesn’t seem to be there now for all of the soundsets listed.

It looks like the “All the Web Collection” download has a lot of patches. I realize this is what you said you didn’t want (a big pile of uncurated sounds), but coming from this site it will probably turn out to have a lot of the good stuff (Yamaha’s own various banks, etc.) because the good stuff is what this site used to have available separately—this guy’s been around for a while. fwiw.

EDIT: Oops, this is really the opposite of what OP wanted. But a good resource in general.

To be fair the original factory patches in that video are pretty impressive for 4 days work with a brand new unknown synth featuring new synthesis technology.
