Wow thank you! Can’t wait to get home and try that patch
Play around with both attack and decay settings for rhythmic grooves. Longer decays for more droney sounds. Try cranking the resonance up with semi-short attack settings for upper harmonics filtering.
If one wants to hear how it sounds if that thing is self patched by complete random plugging cables.
The Subharmonicon is probably the only synth I’d still like to try out (since I feel like I have everything I need already).
This was one of the first things I made with the SubH. It’s a weird instrument for sure but it has such a defining sound even when it’s treated with fx. I barely use it these days but I can’t part with it because it sounds and feels special when I do use it. Slowing down the tempo and letting it just ring out with some subtle controls manipulation can be very rewarding,
Thank you! Some inspiration! I’m going to try the same.
I noticed that it’s standby in the beginning, then gets floaty a bit after. Did you adjust the decay and add some noise?
Also going to clock both dfams to each clock, with the Subharmonicon doing short percussive stabs in XOR mode.
This is really fuckin cool.
and thank you! tbh I didn’t really know what I was doing as I just couldn’t wait to get into it and I can’t remember how it was patched up but I know I didn’t really touch the seq part. Once I had the melody shift as I wanted it I mostly tweaked the attacks/decays and eg amt. I really like the short percussive stuff with a very particular tone - it’s almost piano like and with a bit of reverb it just sounds gorgeous.
I also have a DFAM/ 0 Coast and 0 CTRL and now I use them together for happy accidents. I also pair the DFAM with A4 which is an awesome combo.
(the noise stuff is Microfreak)
Went to my local synth / modular store to check out the Moog knobs and it didn’t really seem to have any rubbing happening on the floor models. I tried it on both the Subharminicon and DFAM, that said it wasn’t an ideal environment and there was only one knob to test.
Either way, I picked up a pack while I was there. I think they look better than the monotron style knobs that are on the synths.
Yeah, I went back and slipped a business card under the knob and pushed down, then slipped the card out, and no rubbing… and they still stay on nicely
Yeah I put mine on. Gonna have to buy another pack for the last 6 knobs I need… still gonna bitch about the fact that they don’t sell different size packs to cover all of the knobs in the studio 3 pack lol (though I did get an extra knob in mine).
But yeah, it looks really nice with those knobs on and way more complete. Feels better too in a way that I wasn’t really expecting, I mainly just wanted them for the looks.
No… the pots are way easier to handle with the knobs. I love this addition. It seems unfinished without them.
is possible to send subH notes to digitone?
SubH -> kenton pro cv to midi -> digitone midi in
Welcome to the forum!
Yes.
One caveat to the above. The SubH quantiser will need to be one of the Equal Temperament scales. I assume Just Intonation scales will get lost in translation over midi.
I fell in love with the Subharmonicon all over again.
It’s the most rewarding synth to be able to utilize to build a track around. And the most frustrating to understand. I really feel like I cannot control it well, and I’m just searching till something finally clicks in.
I ran the PWM Malevolent Osc 2 to the sequencer. It’s funny, it didn’t register all the notes, and it isn’t influenced by the SH Osc.
Then just played the amp and filters.
I say I love the DFAM the most, but I use the SH way more. It’s the challenge of it, I think.
When I get a bit of time, I want to clock sync to the Syntakt, and run her audio through the FX Block.
I just had to come here and express my love for this lovely machine!
Another SubH Syntakt Jam
EDIT: Just made this!!! Really putting the SUB in SubHarmonicon
AND I REMIXED IT!
