Map to submix volume then set programs to output to the submix. If you keep this consistent across sequences then it works nicely.
Yes, this is what Iām doing.
The 8 submixes are midi controlled by a Novation Launch Control XL (well, I use it for 7 subs and have the 8th channel for the MPC master outs).
Iād have this with both the Live 2 or the X.
Iām planning on using the Faderfox to control fx sends from the Subs, and plug-in parameters for the Sub/Master channels.
Once a template is set up, itās happy days afterwards.
Iād watch a show staring Bobo Beats and Lopoop shilling everything, not just synths.
There was a video by Teefty and Meems about the new plugins yesterday. He didnāt go into patching, but he did a pretty decent demo of what you can do with these synths in a real situation.
OPx-4 is just .
Just been sound designing since I got it.
Letās hear it then.
With this OPx-4 real synth sound design is now fully possible on MPC. One point for Akai. But we need a manual.
I think we collectively focused so much on the price and the fact that these plugins have to all be mediocre or average somehow. But here we are about a week later and I went from they prob suck, to they are all actually really good, to wow these are amazing. The piano one is just getting better and better for me. I think I actually prefer using it to Keyscape, though Iād prefer more updates with different types of pianos. And the OPx4 FM one is also nuts and way deeper than most think.
Haha damn. Put on the spot!
Know of any site where I can just upload and share a few second clip of the sounds?
Not interested in opening a soundcloud or youtube rn.
Though maybe that is the better idea longterm.
I am happy I didnāt sell mine. From my (probably biased) persepctive, I always though that Maschine is a better choice, as itās well thought out, pretty, German quality, more focused on EDM rather than hip hop. But now, I see MPC as superior. Itās becoming so flexible itās crazy. I wonder what lurks for us in say 5 years.
You can just upload them directly to the forum.
I think you get up to 3min
Yep, drag and drop!
Something to remember about the architecture of the OPx4, very clever from my point of view:
3 buses:
Bus 1->filter 1->fx 1 then global effect
Bus 2->filter 2->fx 2 then global
Bus 3 global fx only
So many possibilities for ultra noisy basses with a nice clean sun sine to carry the weight!
Also, envelopes 1/4 are wired to osc 1/4, 5 and 6 are free BUT note that 5/6 are scaled to 10% time by default so theyāre snappier.
If envelopes are set to loop then they can be synced to time, this becoming additional synced lfos.
Yes, you can just drag audio clips straight into the forum.
WTF! That easy to upload?!
Wow, had to try this myself. Just a quick jam using the new instrument demos. Used a drum synth multi, then an fm bass, with a pad from fabric xl. Just jammed a lead line over the top, recorded the output via my interface loopback and dragged it into hereā¦ Voila!
Dang. That solo!
This is why I dont post any music anything.
I was really skeptical about these paid plugins but I must say I really like them so far.
One thing I did find is that the velocity curves on the pianos and epās are definitely set up for the synth keybed on the mpc keys. I set up the velocity curve on my weighted 88 key to ālightā and they respond much better.
Another little snippet produced at lunch time today. Here I am using the MPC One to drive iPadOS synths.
After pushing OPX-4 a bit more over the last couple of days, Iāve decided not to buy itā¦
Sure itās giving me a nice FM synth to add to my Stand Alone experience, but it isnāt bringing anything new to the game for me since I pair my MPC with my iPad 95% of the timeā¦and really like putting it into Controller mode with my MacBook to take advantage of my desktop synths.
It was good to spend some time with the OPX-4ā¦who knowsā¦maybe if it goes on sale for $49.99, Iāll get it thenā¦but for nowā¦itās on the back burner until that time.
