I’m exporing the DT, which I bought yesterday, and trying to make sense of it.
The factory A5 pattern has a drum sound on track 4 that seems to combine several sounds - kick, snare, some kind of hh, etc. Is this achieved with parameter locks?
Also, when I’m playing the same patch without the pattern running, track 4 plays a completely different, FM-bellish sound. Why is that the case?
Yes, a kind of parameter lock called sound locks, where the preset is selected per step from the sound-pool.
The bell here is the default track sound, the drums are sound locks.
I will add that you have to fill the Sound Pool with Samples in order to achieve this.
9.1.1 ADDING SOUNDS TO THE SOUND POOL
You must first add Sounds to the Sound pool to be able to perform Sound locks.
Press [FUNC] + [PATTERN MENU] to open the IMPORT/EXPORT menu.
Select MANAGE SOUNDS, and then press [YES] to open the SOUND MANAGER.
Select the Sounds you want to add to the Sound pool by highlighting them and pressing [YES].
Press [RIGHT] to open the SOUND OPERATIONS menu.
Select COPY TO … and then press [YES].
Select SOUND POOL, and then press [YES].
Thanks for the info everybody. This helps a lot.
