NooB question [OB]

sorry I haven’t used a computer for anything techno music in almost a decade but OB has given me a reason to try it out…so here’s a dumb sounding question… I tried to enable all tracks in the OB Control Panel thing and it responds back “too many tracks selected” is this cuz my computer is outdated? Does this more so when I have switched to 24-bit. I have the OVER(priced)HUB thing as well, I assumed that would help.

My mac is a MacBook Air 1.3ghz Core i5, 8gb ram, is that too week to stream all these AR/A4 tracks? I have having to pick and choose which to disable and send to the mains

prolly just a slow computer I’m guessing

It’s not your computer. When Elektron started developing OB they discovered USB 2 was introducing to much noise into the signal path so they had to use USB 1.1. The bandwidth you are getting if the same for everyone.

Hmmm, so when you choose a bit rate that is higher, and utilizes more bandwidth, you’re able to run LESS tracks, not MORE tracks?
Hmmm. interesting.

Hi Marcel,
the trick of the Overhub is that it merges several USB 2-Streams into one USB 3.0 stream without a bandwidth loss (like you would experience on other USB-3-hubs). So its not too expensive, its a saviour, when you try to connect several USB-2-Audio-Stuff into a macbook that has only two USB-3-Ports. Best is of course when you put the audio-gear directly in your PC without any hub, but the overhub does the least damage

8 to 10 streams is also the maximum i can get in a much more powerfull imac. As your macbook air wouldnt be powerfull enough to run many software-plugins, the combination with the analog gear seams good, as you save a lot of processing power. So you just have to choose which channels you really need, you cant have them all at once. And yes 16 bit gives you roughly 30 percent more channels than 24 bit.

greetings,
