I glad about that, that means that in the sampler model there will be less excuses for shortcomings.
what did you do with the other 3?
Ricky is cool but in the Digitakt videos he does it kind of comes across like he’s not actually all that well versed in using it, doesn’t really have the muscle memory like an experienced user, and I strongly get the impression he’s making the video in kind of a targeted “spec sheet” way based on what he sees folks complaining about on forums. Just saying I don’t think those videos would really inform the decisions Novation is making for their products.
he knows how to hash it out though… I’m definitely gonna be calling on him to do a video just like he did on the digitakt… for the circuit rhythm… over all he does a good job of keeping his bias in check and when he lets it out it’s funny and entertaining
Yea I agree, I definitely hope he does one for the new Circuit as well. Following the progress here with curiosity just as a fan of Novation, the battery powered nature of this thing has me feeling interested!
me too, I have a distaste for the circuit which I’ve owned twice so much that I can’t even mask it but I’m a huge novation fanboi otherwise and have enjoyed too many of their products to count.
Sold them…whenever a major firmware dropped I was on it again, to sell it after about 3-5 months…I do love the workflow and easiness to craft patterns, and grow tired of it, the eternal optimist inside me never give up.
What did you do with the two you owned?
same as you, the circuit is like the cilantro of beat machines, I couldn’t keep it but couldn’t resist going back for more just to see if that after taste was still there…
bring on the circuit Rhythm!!
but what if the Circuit Rhythm tastes like soap to some people?
ok is anyone willing to make a prediction on when the circuit tracks will be in stores?? Couple weeks??
haha I will find out for sure
FWIW in another forum, someone asked the store that leaked them about if/when he could preorder. They said 3-4 months.
Dunno if that means anything actually, but I thought I´d share it with you…
Thanks ya I appreciate the followup. That is definitely a ways away but I guess expected since they haven’t even officially announced it yet.
That is what I like about Ricky’s videos. He does this with a lot of instruments. Instead of being hashed out reviews, his videos are more like, “I had an idea to try this idea out on this machine, so let me make a video of me trying it out, and you all can come along for the ride.” (And if you read that in his voice, then extra points.) They feel more spontaneous than the same old reviews and video manuals that exist.
I predict they’ll be out next financial quarter , so April ish.
I described Ricky elsewhere: “There are lots of ‘personalities’ on YouTube; Ricky has personality.”
If you can chain 256 step sequences I’m all over it.
If they stick to the original seq concept, it should be possible.
I had two, loved the immediacy. Never recorded a track out of it though. And finally got confused and frustrated by the OS updates and extra functions, so that I had to sell them.
This was what killed the mood for me the 2 modes - I found out that I am a 1 mode type of musician!
The limitation of only 2 synth tracks defeats its purpose as a standalone groovebox, at least Novation could add yet another track to have 3 synth tracks in total, one for the bass, one for the pads and one for the melodies.
As it is, it is only for sketching out ideas or to use it alongside with another hardware gear. But, even for only sketching out ideas with only 2 synth tracks it is limited.
We don’t know yet if you can load your own Samples on its drum tracks, and if it supports pitch quantization per step, well, with no screen you will be obligated to do it with your ears, so, if you have good ears you’re gonna make it! So, in this case you will use the first drum track for your bass and will remain the 2 synth tracks for the pads and the melodies.
I will wait to see if it supports usb audio interface and if not, I’m out, I mean ok, we can eat the limitation of tracks, but in 2021 a groovebox to be with only 2 tune tracks and without usb audio interface it is unacceptable.
Novation added some extra features in comparison to the previous model, but the most important feature is the number of tracks, which remained the same!
I believe that my criticism is creative and all these things (number of tracks, usb audio interface, and pitch quantization in the drum tracks for the samples) can be fixed through a firmware update, the structure is there, it is not difficult for Novation to do it.
