Novation Circuit Rhythm and Circuit Tracks

No
Buy tracks instead.

Sadly not everyone’s made of money, sad but I’ve saved for one of these for a really long time and this will be my first piece of hardware in almost two years since I had to sell what I had before

check the specs for what it does now then at least there won’t be any surprises.

I wouldn’t buy it assuming it’ll get features that aren’t advertised or assuming it’ll get features from another piece of equipment they make which has cosmetic similarities … the actual hardware spec may not be similar .

Even if you can mirror the internal triggering to an output midi channel I’d also check what that data actually is … it may be note data, or maybe a single midi note with midi cc that is used to mimic tuning.
Plus it’s monophonic so it would only be one note ( ok for bassline ???) but without pitch bend, aftertouch etc it’ll be limited.

Wait a little to get a range of vids to see what it does actually output ( or check the midi spec if it had been released )

And finally … novation have been good with support in the past , but the midi channels are a key feature for tracks, 8 sample tracks is a key feature for the new device. Updating it to add midi channels would kill some of the key features that differentiate each device

But I could be very wrong.
Good luck with whichever device you buy , they both seem fine.

Thanks man! I was just using synths before so expanding it a different kind of setup is really exciting, I’ve got a Erica synths bassline coming too and I’m a bit new to whole midi thing so I’m mostly just looking for help on how to sync these two form wherever I can at the moment.

I hope I didn’t come across as rude before and thanks for the help!

No it’s fine.
With db01 I’d go with midi sync and use built in sequencer as it’s got lots of nice little tricks, randomisation , parameter recording , slides , accent etc.

Run it through one of the external inputs and it should sound good with a bit of reverb and delay.

Just for fun. When folks say that the Rhythm (or Tracks for that matter) had no screen. Let’s visit the comparable devices:

By comparable, do you mean all samplers and sample players that are $1000 and less?

Edit: Well, some of them have also synth engines, so not just limited to samplers/sample players.

If we were to include other similar devices in the price range, then the list might also include:

  • Roland SP404A/SX
  • Polyend Tracker
  • 1010 Blackbox
  • Roland MC101 & MC707
  • MPC One
  • TE PO33

I use the original circuit’s synth tracks for sequencing drums via midi on occasion, I’m pretty sure the Tracks works the same way.

Don’t know for sure, but usually drum kits on devices like JV 1080 are just arranged across notes on a keyboard, so the circuit synth sequencer is actually pretty handy for this, just make sure the scale mode is set to chromatic.

What is your shipping date? You are from UK?

btw, Programmer’s manual for Tracks finally available as well.

From Anderson’s they tell me shipping begins from 30th July :sob:

i believe there is also a master compressor

hoping with future firmware updates there will be polyphonic sample playback and stereo sampling.
does anyone with greater technical knowledge than myself know if this could be a possibility?

in france, the delivery shipping is by end of august
