Novation Circuit Rhythm and Circuit Tracks

I agree entirely with what you are saying. My day job is professor, and I’ve had lots of experience with presenting in classrooms, but video is another matter. (I’ve done an entire online course, with technical help, but it was traumatic.) However, in this case, I was simply referring to the contrast between this official video for Novation and the ones he puts out on YouTube on his own time as Ricky Tinez. Check one out and I believe you will see what I mean. He’s a lot more relaxed and casual, and I think that is partly why he has so many subscribers on his own channel.

The deeper I dive the more I’m loving the Circuit Rhythm, so many really great UI touches which centre on not getting in the way of creation/performance.

One I found today is instant pattern change by holding shift then pressing a pad, fantastic for spot fills and drops etc.

I’m a bit clueless about new gear, but after having a look at the circuit rhythm, it almost ignites a bit of GAS. Looks fun, sounds good. Good size, battery powered. Whats not to like?

I‘m also watching this now :see_no_evil:

Same for projects too, shift+Project is an instant jump and a similarly neat fill/drop trick.

I’m listening… and loving it too.

Thats cool - can think of a number of flexible use cases for this.

I reckon hooking up to the Octatrack will be ridiculous amounts of fun, but in the couple of days I’ve had it just been using it by itself for now.

@Calc Is there an official way to send feature requests? I don’t do Facebook etc.

:heart::pray:

Well you’ve already been unofficially sending them over the past couple of days !

But the official channel (which is also a very good idea to send to…) is https://support.novationmusic.com/hc/gb/requests/new

If you choose the feedback option you can send all your wants and needs there.

Looking forward to your list ;o)

Another thing I love about the Circuit Tracks is that you can get more out of other synths with it:

Yeah, I had been using it for a while before I realized this.

Pattern changes over MIDI with a cc would be the business

Love this! Always thought of the lil Volca Kick as a bit of a secret weapon - you’ve tapped into that in a big way here!

does it have the ms20 filter like the monotribe? I believe I read that somewhere

I believe the tone is generated by an MS-20 resonating filter

Am I the only one who finds the volume of the Ryhthm to be really low?

I have to crank the volume knob and add gain to it through my mixer or DAW.

Oh, it’s mosquito fart low. But we love it anyway :slightly_smiling_face: but yeah. Low love.

Yeah very low, not sure why but presumably there is a reason.

Well, here I was thinking it was only me with the volume. Good to know that’s just the way it is. I can work with that. Gain it is!

The noise floor is pretty low around -76db so adding a bit of gain does not appreciably make it too noisy, at least for me.

Same here, it can def take a little gain without issue.

Man this thing is really really fun, I think I will probably buy another one, for twice the fun.

The master filter knob which I never found as useful on original Circuit is an excellent way to transition between CR and another synced groovebox, especially when combined with the grid fx.

I guarantee I will be using this on records.

Easily one of the best groovebox purchases I made in the last few years, the human/machine connection negates the need for a screen completely.
