Worth a few extra bucks, IMO.
But I’d go for a black one if I were to loose mine, for sure.

Also fine to charge a premium for. UI updates should be for everyone.
Then again, my argument is based on my belief that the red rec buttons are a helpful UI and not everyone would agree with that. The shouldn’t have been dropped for the mk2’s to begin with IMHO

OK, I understand your initial message now.
Yeah the paint job was better too, the box, CF card, poster, I’m very happy with mine.
I actually prefer the grey one to the regular black one, but AE is best.
Will never sell my grey or AE, might even get a mk1 again too at some point. I think that as an fx processor/mixer alone the mk1 is worth having, but I will wait until the right one comes up.

The craziest turn of events for me is I had tried to find a way to paint my OT black , but now that there’s a factory black one I find myself liking the grey more .
Those three red record buttons keep triggering mild GAS. Every time I see them I wish I had an AE. At the time they came out, I didn’t know I wanted an Octatrack, but about three months later I bought a black mkii. I’ve not been an OT user/fan long enough to feel like it’s a “forever” instrument, either… (I barely do any sampling with it!!) I just find the red buttons so appealing. Damn you, power of nice design!! Damn my hoarder nature!!

Cost far more then I would like but blame myself for not following through when I had one in my online shopping cart a few years ago. Will have a few beers later to forget about that!!!
