Overbridge - is it done yet?

Sorry to ask but I don’t use and have no way of using Overbridge. Can anyone tell me, is it done yet and if so, are Elektron likely to get back to updating their hardware again like they used to? If OB still isn’t finished, is there a timescale for when it’s likely to be? Thanks.

Hey, can’t seem to find it online any more but Elektron had a timeframe all listed out. There are still quite a few features to add such as “total recall” which will be coming in future upgrades. I think Overbridge will be developed alongside their current and future machines for a long time to come. It’s still a baby at this point.

Hardware updates? Like new physical instrument products? Or do you mean updating the software of the instruments that are already shipping?

There have been non OB specific feature updates and bug fix developments to come out with the OS updates up to 1.21
A4 got a new noise filter “Color” parameter, Rytm received some improvement with the direct jump bug, and bass tom resonance + cymbal tone were fixed. mini keys/pads on both can send to external instruments only now, if the user wishes.

So, to ask if Elektron are likely to get back to updating, well, they already have been.

As for timescale, from the April email:

IWidely considered unuseable in current AU form. I sure hope it’s not done!

Thanks for the info - so looking like the bulk of the work on it will be completed “autumn 2015”? If so, great news as that’s any time now but is that timescale still looking realistic?

Yes, understand that Elektron have been providing the odd small update for their hardware but OB has been the main focus of their work and resources lately so I’m hoping they can complete it and refocus on hardware os development.

For the Analog Rytm users it would have been nice if there was a OS update with the RingMod machine! Elektron spoke about that even before the announcement of Overbridge.

It would be a gentle sign to the AR users who are not interested in OB and the RingMod machine is no secret at all, so why wait???
