This is a nice addition for a setup, especially if you donât already have in place your own multi-channel soundcard. If you do, things start to get a bit more tricky. For example, you need to start aggregating soundcards on macs and there goes your latency⌠It would have been great to have ADAT out to integrate with your other gear.
Iâm more excited about the DAW plugin option where you can simply recall your track settings when you are printing stuff into the DAW. As to if the audio send/return is worthwhile using, it all comes down to how good the AD/DA on these boxes are.
For someone with a simple setup with just these machines, itâs an amazing upgrade!
Itâs great to see how much these machines have been giving and giving to earlier users. The latest OS upgrade was amazing and this new upgrade also looks very promising. Very happy with Elektronâs commitment to its users. and yeah⌠a MD mkIII would be great

Given you can use high resolution MIDI, are you really gaining a lot by using OSC? Max can only send OSC to plugins every audio buffer⌠at least to AU/VST plugins, so Iâm not sure how much youâre gaining with OSC.
I love OSC but just donât know if itâs a valid issue here.

I remember wondering why the MPC4000 (first with USB I think) couldnât do this.
Anyways, this tech would be the most useful in the Octatrack by far.

Yes, This Overbridge applied to OT as an upgrade or mkII would be essential! Also an ability to merge all Overbridge devices into one ASIO driver or the audio side of the functions would be limited to one device at a timeâŚ
Yeah. It does make me think that an OT MkII would be a logical step on from this (with internal or at least a modern standard storage too).
Even though I no longer have mine, itâs great to see the A4 getting another significant free upgrade in functionality. Amazing foresight of Elektron to build in these possibilities over a year ago.

Hopefully this attempt at making software will go better for Elektron than C6 has.
Hopefully Elektron doesnât forget to update c6 or try to offer some better software options for those of us still using our antiquated silver boxesâŚIâm pretty nonplussed by this.

Man, plugging the Octas abcd outs into the inputs of each analog machine!!! You could multitrack both analogs and 4 tracks from the Octa all with just the Elektrons!!! Future shit!!!
