This is amazing, thank you Elektron! Q4 though… cry
Left DAWs behind a long time back & don’t feel the need to revisit.
That said, this is a fantastic tool for those who want to work that way so good on ya, & good on a Elektron for continually working so hard!!!
Cheers
i´m impressed
i must admit that every gear i bought in the past (and sold) never reached that kind of sophisticated engineering like yours
your products are an investment for the future
thank you Elektron
oooooh! That’s ultranice…does it mean that i can record the four tracks of A4 independently?
also…what does Q4 mean?
when is it?
Correct!
Q4 means we hope to be able to release the OS updates end of this year.
A question for @jon . So for the A4 there is an audio channel for each voice, and the stereo outs. Will the audio inputs be separate channels from stereo outs, or will the inputs be routed to the virtual stereo outputs.
I was wondering the same?
my korg zero4 mixer has 18 tracks into ableton but it send the right and left of each fader and the master right left effects right left…
what is the audio schema look like?
This is very curious, the A4 having been the machine the draw me totally out of the box (and led me to eurorack perdition). Since it’s arrival my pc became a just glorified stereo recorder and my creativity boosted. So I must confess I received this new with a bit of suspicion.
Also if I’d be an octatrack owner I would be quite pissed off. This kind of pc integration would make much more sense on a sampler than on anything else.
But please don’t misunderstand me, this is not a rant at all.
The empowerment we shall get from this (FREE!!) upgrade is just awesome. I can easily make the prophecy that all the lamentations for the lack of individual outs and sequencer midi out on the A4 will disappear all of a sudden. Elektron’s choice makes much more sense now. I just hope that the CV side will be covered as well (but I don’t see why it wouldn’t).
damn! round trip audio processing over USB is wicked!
it’ll be great when just working with a laptop and also i won’t have to re-patch my audio interface if i need those ins n outs. (it’ll work as an aggregate device?)
i wonder if we’ll get more virtual inputs on the analog 4? if we could filter 4 digital sources, 1 for each track, ( as well as the analog ins?) i could honestly see myself getting a second analog4. it’d give us more flexibility with the neighbor tracks and feedback routing too…!
i also wonder if it’ll work in class compliant mode? would be very cool with iOS.
the screen size, which i never had an issue with, myself makes more sense, i think.
It’s weird that the OT was omitted by put they’re saying its hardware related - so elektron the member here who is creating a utility for the OT that needs the sysex makeup of the OT to complete and implement in his program - so he’s pretty much going to do it so you’ll stop, people like me bemoaning the OT being left out. So can you provide this info to him so he can add the functionality to the OT that it desperately needs?
This is a brilliant move anyway for my a4 - can’t wait to try this with bitwig!
With all the new products being released, and now this new software (made specifically for the new products) it does sort of feel like Elektron is going to walk away from doing anything more with or for the old silver boxes. The ‘new era’ has arrived. The ‘new era’ has USB! Too much to do, now, to ever look back at C6 again …so it seems.
I don’t blame them for not providing continued updates on machines that are now ten years old. I mean heck, they’ve been awesome about updates. But C6 is a different story. C6 is a huge glaring gap in product support. It’s a damn shame that unreliable hunk o’ crap it’s the only option for backups and file transfers for the old machines!
Yeah…I mean, I don’t really expect much in the way of OS updates now for the MD and MNM, but they could at least make some improvements to C6 to make for a smoother experience. It’d be nice to have a way to manage files better. Maybe someday…
yeah good point, a lot of audio interfaces don’t work with CV so this potentially makes the analog4 pretty useful for people that want computer integration.
tbh, as an octatrack owner, i don’t care. yeah, it’d be cool to directly connect the octatrack to the analog4, but running digital stuff through analog filters and distortions for processing with less cables is more compelling to me. either way it’s a bonus.
with the the octatrack you can warp sounds to such a degree i don’t find i need to run tons and tons of sounds into it and it’d be leveled up by stuff that’s been gone over in the forums, like more dynamic, live, performance abilities and internal data management, not by spending time setting up track routing so you can multitrack in and out, which imo would make it into a rather different machine.
wondering if this will be implemented as class-compliant USB-audio device. Would be cool for teh iPads.
Will Overbridge include the ability to record midi data from the Elektron sequencer into the DAW for further editing? I tend to use the Analog Four’s sequencer as a sketchpad and it would be very useful to my workflow to be able to record the midi note and CC data. This is a feature that I have always really wanted as it would make fine tuning a pattern much easier.
Are the Aira’s class compliant, do we know?
Thank you to Elektron for this.
It’s fantastic customer service, over delivering and as an early a4 adopter I have value for money big time.
I take my hat off to whoever is running the business for planning and investing in the R&D for this integration.
You now have a unique product offering analogue integration with a DAW. The bar is definitely raised for consumers and I hope it works sales wise to support more innovation.
Cheers
Great development, but it says “available in VST/AU formats”, what about AAX?
Is this not compatible with Pro Tools?
@Jon - are you able to share some of the specs on the converters in our machines? From the sound of the digital effects I’m guessing the a/d/a in the A4 is extremely well looked after. Of course the sound is my primary concern but numbers are always reassuring
I will still hugely miss a decent software to manage my MDUW+.
