Let’s see a few months how the M:C can inspire towards new updates for the Digitone
As a business this is right, but as a consumer, I would say people don’t care how big are small a company is, when it comes to handing over their hard earned cash, only that they deliver within a reasonable time, and to be fair Elektron do, except for OB, I just found the cycles brings nothing real new, I am opened to being wrong, so I hope a Electron release a shit hot update for the DN ,
My opinion seems of upset a few people.
The truth of the matter it’s only my opinion, and you what they say about opinions,
Yes your right, this will definitely inspire updates, as both are FM based.
@Microtribe There are two major threads on the Digitone. Clicking noises and hanging notes. Hence, why I canceled my order for the Digitone and wait it out until I see Elektron giving attention to existing devices again and start releasing firmware updates.
Especially the clicking noises is extremely easy to reproduce. I myself immediately experienced it when trying out the Digitone keys in a store that happened to have it in their demo room.
It’s been a very long time since either Digitakt and Digitone have gotten a firmware update.
There are still plenty of bug reports for either device… just that everything is burried on this forum now, due to the new shiny toy hype.
The irony is that if Elektron took this approach, there likely wouldn’t even be a Digitone due to them still focusing all their attention on the Monomachine or Octatrack OS.
A lot of synths click if the envelopes are set really sharp normally just add a bit of attack or release I’ve not noticed it on the DN… the hanging notes is a bit of a pain but is only when sequenced externally… pretty happy with my digitone overall, 8 voices and is a great synth…
I’ve tried this. It cannot be done
As DanJ said, sharp envelopes, is usually the cause, as well on SYN2 page 2, adjusting the Phase Reset, I think to All or Car, should stop are soften clicks.
The sense of entitlement shown by some on here is incredible!
If you’re truly not happy with your Elektron due to a perceived lack of updates then sell it and move on. Bigger things to greet about.
If one purchases a Digitone, I am sure your entitled to voice your opinion, what’s the point of a forum.
yep, you read in my thoughts, digitone is half finished, but elektron want a new cashflow, not sure that strategiy can stand for a long time, since the digitone, i’ve baught lot of gear, but i’ll never buy elektron again , they don’t respect theyr customers
I hope you have sense of humour
Seriously…?
The music industry has come along way to where people can now be bummed about super new, super advanced tech.
Wow
I side more on the lines of gratitude. Hyped I even have choices. Just me though.
I miss my digitone, snappy envelopes and all.
I feel like elektron are probably one of the best small teams in the business and I have nothing but respect for their innovation, design philosophy and output. I guess I’ve been lucky in that I’ve never had any problems that couldn’t be solved by a power cycle. If something went wrong and the instrument felt broken in some unusable way, fair enough. That’s not been my experience with any of their stuff so far. I had both the DT and DN as they released with their early firmware, and less features but felt complete at the point of buying them. The updates to the analog series was an amazing bonus…
Didn’t read through all the comments after coming back to this thread but I think one thing needs to be taken into consideration. R&D doesn’t happen in a bubble nor does it happen overnight. I would bet that the ideas for DN/DT and MS/MC were born at the same time. It takes a long time to get a product to market, it was not like they put out the DT and then decided they should build the DN and a year later poof, there it is. Same with the MS/MC. This roadmap of product release most likely started 5 years ago, with a lot of R&D behind all of it. Point is, one is not intended to take away from the other, but leverage different parts of the market and spread their product line out across multiple segments.
I would add that I’m not interested in either of the model series, but Im glad they have bankable products that will in time allow them to knock out the next OT or MD or whatever…We should support creativity and design by people who have the imagination for it.
@pcmusic with respect, this somewhat questionable (near clickbait) thread has almost certainly run its course and is going nowhere … as there is nowhere to go (except further down probably), honestly it’s a bit unfair (even you concede it was so) and ill-judged to present it this way and now (that is what solicits the responses we are seeing) and it is the sadly all too familiar and misguided premise whenever any new Product-X is released that somehow Product-Y customers are being neglected - this being highlighted as entitlement on one hand together with some trashy analysis on the other is all we’re going to achieve here - can this thread be closed
focus on what your device can do which is considerably more than anyone has given credit for - plus it’s a thankless task trying to help people understand why this familiar negative narrative is short-sighted and divorced from the realities that none of us can truly foresee within Elektron … especially when it’s a reality folk won’t want to hear
The bottom line is there is good OS support from Elektron, it’s disingenuous to suggest otherwise, these happen when it makes sense for their business, it only happens faster than scheduled when there’s a serious bug
@pcmusic Sounds like you really dig your Digitone a lot, which is excellent, but it also sounds like you might be experiencing a lot more problems with your unit than other owners. (Have you tried sending your unit in for repair/replacement?)
But I say work around any other issues you have and have fun- Elektron is going to continue to listen and do their own thing according to their time, budget, and structure. We might get another firmware update soon, but with everything great the Digitone has going for it, it wouldn’t be the end of the world if nothing else arrives. You don’t lose if you move on to another instrument that better suits your needs.
What I will say is that, if you’re having trouble with OB because you’re still running win 7, then I say upgrade to win 10 and get over it. It’s 2020 and win 10 runs fine.
How did you come to that conclusion? I ask a question, “Why don’t companies just finish one project, make it right and stable before releasing something new, well the same without extra features,”
Its clear that Digitone, is an unfinished product, but they release something similar, Its only my opinion, there is other people here that feel the same, but instead I get accused, of Clickbait, and can this thread be closed,
If you want me to close the thread I will, I guess freedom of opinion is dead
I was wondering why this tread is not closed already, its statement is false and even if it weren’t, it is totally pointless.
