Pace of firmware updates?

This sounds like a hardware problem with your unit rather than an established firmware bug. I recommend that, if you haven’t done so already, you create a support ticket with Elektron. I understand your frustration with a dysfunctional unit but that is the best way to get it working properly. All Digitones are still under warranty.

Love the Digitone, but it can be better, based on what they just released M:C

on upgrading to wins 10

I am sure it does, its just that my soundcard, midi controller, midi interface, etc… not compatible or there’s no drivers for Win 10, which makes them pretty much obsolete, if I want to live in 2020

never had this kind of problem …

I don’t think it’s unfinished at all!

Could a firmware iron out whatever minuscule wrinkles some are still encountering? Sure. I’m pretty certain Elektron will get to them in time too (presuming issues have been flagged). But for 99.9% of folks, Digitone is clearly a finished product.

The ‘unfinished’ thing is baffling…it’s clearly not. It’s an instrument, not a video game.

Wait, what soundcard and devices are you using that would make them incompatible on win 10? Are they hard to replace (for you)?

I understand pcmusic’s point. It makes me think of the promo clip about the Dual VCO machine for the Analog Rytm and that Elektron released it 8 months later. There is also something to say about the A4/AR to mk2 transition, I already expected new graphics with the bigger display like on the Digitakt and but this finally happened 2 year later.

In short Elektron is working on anything and everything, the real focus is lost…

M:C is completely different synth , it is design from ground up differently. Have you not watched video with Ess performing and explaining the machines ? the machine producing chords is not even FM, its wavetable… I am sorry you have problems with your unit, but it would be good if we can identified it with out anger.

I have an Emu 1820m, never gave any problems, hard to part with it but no Win 10 drivers, and the Midi Keyboard is an Korg Micro Key, its seem it not to be compatible with win 10 from online reading, people have trouble getting it to be recognised win Win 10, I would love to change them but I just dont have the money, plus they will be hard to sell, I will probably have to give them away,

Could anyone explain what is the point of having triggerless lock, while there is no parameter slide? The change of parameters is abrupt and stepped. It is unusable. Elektron, finish your ongoing business before releasing new products.

Ah that’s a bummer. Hope things change around for ya soon enough so you can experience OB and less hardware/software headaches.

WIN 10 feels like its still in beta? What are you even talking about? How would you even know if you’re still using Win7? I understand there was some hiccups upon roll out, and I waited a while to upgrade, but I can attest that it’s pretty stable, and efficient, much more so then Win 7. The updating process wasnt nearly as bad as some are making it out to be, and for the most part was fully automated. I think at this point you’re starting to ramble on about things you haven’t any ideas about, in an attempt to strengthen you’re argument. I dont understand why people feel that companies must appease to their ever want and need. Comparing a Digitone to a Deluge, and one company’s business plans to another, insinuating that one should do what the other does is just plain…silly. Sorry for coming on thick, but I’ve grown tired of all the negative moaning and endless bitching. Ha, look at that, now I’m moaning.

In the model:cycles Q&A thread it’s explained that the digitone and the model:cycles fm engines are completely different from another and couldn’t even share patches.

It’s a bad assumption that just because both synths use fm they are the same.

The moral code of large companies like Korg and Yamaha is to release products that are bug-free.
That set the industrial standard for established manufacturers, if companies don’t want to be lumped in with a boutique like Deluge. There is no excuse for releasing unfinished products with bugs and they’d get away with it, because most of latest products are OS based. Elektron used to release products every few years and there is the impeccable quality control. I like Digitone and hope there will be more updates to rectify the situation.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again.

NEEDS MORE CUPHOLDERS.

This is true. There is a bug where it completely freezes when slaved to another device. Elektron is aware and it’s being investigated AFAIK.

I have a newish laptop with windows 10, I don’t like it, Sorry, The trouble I had with it DJing and connecting my USB mixer, it was a headache I previously sold my laptop with win 7 because Traktor 3 would even open, because of the processor, to then run into this problem, if it as stable as you say a may give it some consideration to put it on my PC, and don’t worry I am think skinned, so lay it on strong, I could give shit,

It feels like, I have to justify every comment, if these comments are negative and make you tired, I wouldn’t read them.

I don’t get why people are getting upset, on having an opinion. Sorry if I feel that Cycles looks and sounds like a stripped down DN

The moral code? They’re giant corporate entities…they much like everyone else, can and do release buggy products. I don’t doubt that you may have had issue with your digitone, perhaps it’s just a case of faulty hardware…I just don’t agree that it as a product was sent out ‘unfinished’.

Cheers for that, Great to hear, Thanks for shining some light on it, this is exactly what happens when it’s slaved, it Freezes randomly , I thought I may have to send it back, this great news once again Thanks

They could easily cover what Chord mode is capable of with addition of wavetables in place of harmonics. Digitone already has both FM and WT in some way. So why didn’t they update Digitone, instead of releasing a dumbed down products.
