'Page' transpose

Hi everybody,

I’m a new and happy Elektron Digitone user. I’m trying to find a way to transpose a custom selection of steps or just a page (16 steps).
Is there such a possibility? If not, how can I do something similar with an easy way (without making new patterns)?

Thank you

Pretty sure you can only transpose the whole sequence of the selected track up or down
by holding the track and pressing up or down…

The other option to do just a page eg 16 steps is with a midi keyboard connected is to hold the trig and press the new note you want on the keyboard which is pretty fast for adjusting notes

Thanks Dan! I like the keyboard option. It has to be done note by note though, but it’s a nice way to program melodies and basslines.

I guess I’ll have to make single page patterns and perform the transposition by changing them at the end of each bar. That’s not very convenient, but it might be more creative.

Yeah it works well for entering notes. Sometimes I like playing the rhythms in on a single note
then change the notes after that way

Recently I’ve discovered one can get quite far with single page patterns (further than I thought and I already thought one could get quite far, ha!).

Combining a few things:

  • Length per track + bigger M.LEN instead of more pages (less to program, but still longer phrases)
  • Sound locks to smatter more than 4 sounds per pattern
  • X:Y trig conditions for things that hit at the end and beginning of phrases
  • small% trig conditions on syncopated notes (esp. with plocked effects!)
  • FILL trig conditions
  • Macro a few things to mod wheel/CC1 and use an external controller to drive variation

Maybe also worth experimenting with getting more traditional chord changes like this by using pattern chaining. With a small number of patterns with bigger (e.g., 128) M.LEN, chaining a few can quickly lead to (not long, but, …) slightly longer musical passages.
