Pictures of upcoming Overbridge version

Dataline showed the upcoming version of Overbridge + new OS for Analog Four / Keys / Rytm at DAVE Workshop Camp in Dresden last weekend.

as far as i remember:

  • much better sync
  • new grafic
  • new functions for the sequencer

Thanks for posting.

Would this be the 1.1 version? Any mention of the librarian and/or Rytm sample transfer without C6?

Looking forward to the update. Navigating through the listed menus and point clicking is a bit tedious; would like to be able to click once then use down arrow keys to preview sounds for tweaking. Any chance parametter adjustments on GUI will be reflected in realtime on the machines? I am satisfied seeing the pluggin mapped and working when editing on the Machines, just would like to see it the other way around.

I can´t tell you about sample transfer and library. I went out for smoking, so maybe I missed it.

But talking about the sync … Dataline mention it would be nearly sample accurate.

The new function for the sequencer is like probabilistic sequences. So you can give a trig a xx% chance to be played … that means, sometimes the trig will be playend and some times not.

He also showed us in depht how the macros works. Not sure if it´s already available in Overbridge, because I never tried it … but seems very powerfull!

I received a mail from Elektron today where it said:

“There is an overhaul of Overbridge on the horizon, as well as new sequencer and LFO powers for the Analog machines.”

Now we now a little about the new sequesncer features, but what do you think “New LFO powers for the Analog machines” means - An extra LFO perhaps?

As a casual user of elektron machines for a year now (A4 and RYTM) I kinda wish they would have taken more solid baby steps. Like starting with computer editor or something similar. It just feels like they tried to work on too many things for too long. Again, I’m not a professional with the machines by any means but the learning curve on the machines alone was steep and I’m finally feeling more confident with the machines themselves so I guess until im told it works solid with Logic or they create a stand alone that makes it easier to get into overbridge, I’ll stick to the hardware. (which is why I went with elektron to begin with). Please Elektron keep the hardware element strong and stable!

That is exactly what I’m thinking, thanks for this. I’ve been using Elektron since the Machinedrum (so maybe a little more experienced), and I won’t touch Overbridge until it works flawlessly with my DAW (which is, as well, Logic X).

Probability sequencing sounds great and in overall, Overbridge is near perfect, imo. Just a few things which bug me out:

[ul]
[li]Not possible to transfer patterns to your DAW[/li]
[li]Pattern change from DAW is unreliable[/li]
[/ul]

I would like to continue to edit drum patterns in DAW which I have made in HW OR easily change sequences/patterns from DAW.

the new sequencer power will be probabilistic sequences. So you can set a xx% chance for each step to be triggered.

Dataline mentioned the editing patterns in overbridge is also planend in a future updage … i guess is still work in progress.

Very cool, thanks for the update. Good to know, elektron are working on the sync as I find it hardly usable in Logic Pro X.

Why can’t Overbridge accept midi notes/data from the machines? As in, if I have a pattern on the Rytm, why can’t Overbridge read/record it as midi so I can edit it Overbridge? If Overbridge had this feature, I’d be all over it.

Sequencer functionality is apparently part of the overall plan for OB. Wouldn’t go holding your breath though…
