Hi,

I want to play a synthesizer via MIDI with a MIDI keyboard and record the played MIDI notes with MS.

Keyboard > MS > Synthesizer

I could do that with the MPC. How can I do that with MS?

The question is: can MS send and record MIDI that it receives?

Not sure I understand what you’re trying to do. You understand that Model:Samples can’t record, and you’re asking what extra equipment you need ?

I want to record the midi notes. MS can do that. Question is: can I play the synth with the keyboard thru MS and record the played notes. And how? :slight_smile:

Okay, understand now

Record midi that it receives: Yes - midi notes need to come in on the auto channel (defaults to 10) or the channel of the track (defaults to track number)

Send midi that it receives: Yes I think so, it should do this via the track that’s receiving the data. Key bits of configuration that are easily missed:

  • on the track setup, you need to tick Mout (midi out) so that it transmits on that track output channel.
  • the midi out/thru option needs to be set to OUT.

There’s a crib-list somewhere I’m sure, so I’ll look into it more if you can’t figure it out from the above.
