so I’m trying to wrap my head around plays free mode on octatrack.
Can’t seem to figure out what I’m missing but whatever trig mode (one/one2/hold) I’m using, the octatrack plays the entire pattern. (so doest stop when track key is pressed again in one2, or released in hold mode.
I just set this up on my OT. I have Track 7 Plays Free with a static sample that is a drone with loop points set on it. I placed a trig on the first trig, no conditions. On the AMP page, I have HOLD and REL set to max as for this track I wanted the drone to just continue playing.
I have TRIG MODE set to ONE2 in the T7 pattern setup. I set the Trig Mode (Func+Down Arrow) to Tracks. I push Trig 7 and the plays free track starts to run, playing the drone as triggered by the first step. I push Trig 7 again and the sequencer stops running but my sample continues to loop. Pressing 7 stops the free running sequencer from running but does not stop the sample from playing (because of the infinite HOLD and REL settings on the AMP page that I set). This is intended. The TRIG MODE in Pattern setup for a Plays Free track determines how the sequencer on that Plays Free track starts and stops. Not how samples are started and stopped.
