Polyend Tracker Mini

derp

I would estimate the shift button + 1-4 will get you to tracks 5-8.

It’s either only 4 tracks, part of it being cutdown from the main Tracker or there’s a way to page between them.

I wouldn’t be surprised if comes with only 4 tracks, otherwise it’s going run the risk of cannibalizing their existing Tracker market, so they hold back on some features to somehow create differentiation. also known as “doing a Roland”

No, that’s exactly how the Tracker works, also:

It only shows four tracks at a time when each lists all four params (Note, Instrument, FX1, and FX2). But you can use the colored buttons to pick just one or two params to display. Then all 8 tracks are shown.

Im pretty sure Polyend blows most of their budget on paying influencers to hype their gear. That is the only reason I can assume the Play cost so much. I replaced it with a few max4live sequencing plugins for less than $50. There were so many people on IG praising the box as this genius thing, Ben Jordan said something to the effect of it was this magical, game changing AI, YT screen shots of guys gasping and holding it,…it just was an assault.

I still think the Tracker was an absolutely awesome idea but when you put it up against the M8, its’s not really a contest besides the little mini buttons for keyboard input and the larger screen.

I’d love for these guys to make something that really stands the test of time, but thats hard and needs serious R&D, p;us long term support down the road. I only mntion the M8 because that is an example of 1 guy who has immense talent continuing to take an idea and evolve into something that has significant updates from v1.0. Polyend simply has never really been able to do that.

Elektron has just done a solid job of balancing their marketing with their R&D and Support. That’s super tough to do.

Point is I think people need to stop posting reviews from these YT shills because they are all going to be positive and fuel need-less consumerism when it comes to Polyend. That is really what the company appears to do best.

First off, would you care to share those Max4Live-plugins?

Secondly, I somewhat agree with you. The price for the Play is way off, and compared to the M8 too little is happening in terms of updates. I’m honestly having a really hard time grasping just how proliferate the guy behind the Dirtywave has been in terms of updates. It’s nothing short of stunning.

They really need to add some new features to this product (ie. synth engines, filter, better envelopes etc.) or keep the price really low. A used Tracker with a power bank comes quite cheap. But then again, if they don’t add anything this product is very redundant and quite obsolete to something like the M8.

I’m having a hard time grasping what this products ‘niche’ is going to be, with things such as the OG PE Tracker, M8, Sonicware Samplr etc. occupying the same space.

I love the Alexkid Suite personally. It generates so many good rhythmic ideas that just work. Honestly the list of M4L sequencers is endless. I listed a bunch in the Ableton 11 thread. Many are free too.

Saves me a lot of time because loading up sample packs in the Play, and then building a decent sequence and then exporting the stems out to the DAW was just a lot of needless work for me. Some people are ok with that, and that’s fine, but the reality is the best sequencers possible are in software at a very low cost compared to hardware.

Thanks for the recommendations, friendo  This completely seems to satisfy the itch that Play left me with after I returned it.

I’d honestly probably enjoy something between the m8 and the polyend, give me the m8 battery, engines and keys with the polyend screen, fill tricks and some amount buttons for note input (two rows of eight ala digitakt/digitone seem to work). Imo, if I’m going to be using a tracker interface I’d prefer screen to be atleast size of my phone, these eyes arent getting any younger.

It’s one of the better Star Trek original series episodes I’ve seen

Someone made this mock-up and I thought it looked good even though the leak image above seems to be legit. Would love it they kept the grid and the clicky buttons

Looks better than the real one unfortunately.

So everyone’s new workflow is:
Go to the desert, clank rocks together using the power of your mind, sample to make crappy kick drum, make ambient techno “banger”

I mean it’s probably no worse than what I currently do

I like my Tracker a lot and am excited for this too as battery power is the main thing holding me back from using mine more.
Also bought a small 3.5mm mic for it (I have yet to test) so guess I already bought in on the use case.

I’m cautious about this one. I had really high hopes for Polyend Play and I was a bit disappointed. Not that it sucks. It wasn’t what I expected.
