Pulling my hair out trying to figure out why my Digitone wont send Midi notes (Screenshots)

Alright so this is my first hardware synth, and boy let me tell you the nightmares I’ve had trying to set this up and have it work properly. I am pretty sure I am at the final boss (SENDING MIDI NOTES) but nothing seems to be working.

What I have done:

The strange thing is, while I was on google trouble shooting this, I went back on ableton for a moment as I was about to test something, and to my amazement, without having done ANYTHING it started sending midi!!! I thought it just randomly fixed itself, I got up to get some water, came back to my desk and it stopped working. I am so confused and sad I just want to play music…

You probably want to look at the MIDI Config -> Port Config settings in the digitone. Hopefully that helps otherwise I’m sure someone else will chime in

I did take a look at the midi config > port config drop down menu, and to be honest I either don’t understand enough or don’t see anything that helps. I appreciate the reply though.

Oh, umm Output To should be USB or midi+USB. USB only means the digitone sends midi over USB and not the physical midi port. Midi+USB means the digitone sends midi on both the midi port and over USB

Gave it a shot, did not do the trick unfortunately.

So I literally went one by one and tried every setting combination, turns out Trig Key DST switched to Int+Ext seems to have fixed the issue and I am able to send midi now. Double checked with the manual: "TRIG KEY DEST controls whether the [TRIG] keys sends MIDI data or not. When set to INT, the
[TRIG] keys only affect the Digitone and sends no MIDI data. When set to INT + EXT, the [TRIG] keys
affect the Digitone, and also send MIDI data to external devices. "

Not sure how I was supposed to have known that without randomly finding this in the manual before hand, but I’m glad I do now.

Welcome to the world of hardware synths. It drives me absolutely nuts whenever I buy a new synth. This was my same experience when trying to sync Digitone with Logic Pro and an external synth. True Cuckoo has a great Digitone tutorial on the Digitone that was a huge help for me.

Can you Screenshot the Tracks Settings in Ableton Live (Session View)?

Way to use the manual as intended!
