Pure data + Octatrack/ Digitakt setup

Hi, looking to explore pure data, can anyone with some experience tell me how to setup the Octatrack to send midi to pure data ?

Is my only option via my interface and ableton ? Or can I use my digitakt or an external midi device ?

If so, which midi device can I buy to get this setup working for me. I’ve seen several people show videos of just the Octatrack ( on camera )

Any help is greatly appreciated thanks !

If you are working with Pure Data, you don’t need Ableton to be involved. PureData talks directly to the system Audio and MIDI devices, so whatever MIDI interface you have should do the job.

If you want the OT to send MIDI to Pure Data, run a MIDI cable from OT’s MIDI OUT to the interfaces MIDI IN. If you want the OT to be able to listen to Pure Data, run a MIDI cable from OT’s MIDI IN to the interface’s MIDI OUT.
