Been reading the forums for a few years but never posted anything before - I’ve got a monomachine - it’s great but its got limits - and I’ve been thinking about getting either a digitone or a digitone keys for doing some more serious fm outside of the computer.
Maybe someone with a digitone or the keys has tried or has experience of this specific routing situation I’ve explained below ?
Is it possible by implementing locked voices on a track, sound locks from the sound pool and then hard panning sounds to get two discrete sounds out of one track? And can you play two independent sounds at the same time in the same track? - For example can you soundlock a ‘snare’ and have a ‘kick’ as the set sound on the track and then trigger both sounds on the same step and then pan them hard left and right? If yes, then you could essentially get 8 mono fm synths with analog outputs on the digitone keys and 8 mono voices in overbridge with the standard digitone and the keys?
Thanks for reading and looking forward to any responses!
…one step/trig…is one sound…no matter what…so no kik and snare one the same track and same trig…
but each trig can be adressed to any soundlock that can also include hard panning parameters…
8 stereo voices at all given time at once…can come in stereo, or hard panned but again, no matter if in stereo or mono, it’s 8 different voices at any given time…a single voice can be anything, happening on four tracks individually, with all paraeter lockings possible, at any given time…
the keys version is a good choice, because it offers u all routing options even without overbridge, opens up the tone in a new way as a truu synth and the keyboard can also act as a normal, proper aftertouch keybbaard with all mod and pitch options to any other external gear plus additional controler knobs that can send any cc…at any given time…
ok great about the hard panning - do you know if its possible to implement sound locks from within overbridge?
thanks! ok thats what I was suspecting. So I guess in theory you’ll be able to do 8 monovoices out from the keys with some certain sequencing limitations
…overbrige can tweak osc’s independantly…but there are no common osc’s in fm…
“only” carriers and modulators…in prewired algorithms…hmmmmm…
but it’s 8 stereo voices either way, anyways…at any given time…remember?
and don’t get to focussed on ob…u got hardware right in front of u…and ob can only make things easier where it really makes sense…no shame at all…
if u don’t want to rock hard ware, no need for swedish candee…
get into the sequencer for real, than let’s talk again…
u will find out, to much brain cookies upfront instead of just learning by doing beyond imagination…
happy accidents are waiting for u…
go out and play…
