Recording midi outs into daw

So im trying to record the midi sequences i have going on the digitakt into bitwig as separate channels for further editing, i figured it would be straight forward as selecting the digitakt as a midi input in bitwig settings then seting up 8 midi tracks with the digi channels(midi ch. 1-8)
But nothing is happening, bitwig is recieving clock and transport but thats it.

Any ideas?

I have the digi in usb midi/audio mode and its setup to output midi per track, im thinking there has to be something im missing when i set up bitwig but ive been searching and have got nowhere so i thought id ask.

Are you using the MIDI tracks (9-16) on the DT or the Audio tracks (1-8)? IIRC the audio tracks don’t send out any MIDI information, which I found somewhat unfortunate.

You can copy audio tracks to midi tracks (you get same notes), then record them in your DAW.
