Always such kindness in his face. Even among Australian kids of the ‘70s, the neighbourhood song was a favourite.

It wasn’t until I had a kid of my own and started rewatching the old Sesame Street episodes from the 70’s and 80’s that I realized how much that show (and the Muppet Show) influenced my musical tastes and ambitions, sense of humor, and appreciation of art and animation. My Mom still regularly sings the Neighborhood song, 40+ years after we were all watching Sesame together. My daughter loves the Christmas on Sesame Street special, which features Bob’s singing, signing with Linda and the neighborhood kids… another generation of kids moved by his work. RIP Bob.
