Oh mannnnnn. This really makes the passage of time feel so real.
I discovered YMO around 96-97. I just couldnāt get enough synth music and I was obsessed with Japan (the country, LOLādiscovered the band a few years later). It was so hard to find their music in record stores here in the States. When I had a chance to go to Japan, it was open season. Takahashiās voice was always my favorite, and I was always so pleasantly surprised that some of my top YMO tunes were penned by him, the drummer.
He was among the early adopters of so many technological breakthroughs in music; drumming with a headset mic, wrist-destroying early electronic drum kits, both analog and digital, drumming to a click and alongside drum machines. Jeez. This puts things inā¦Perspective.
