Rytm MK II potential oscillators issue, please help

Hi Friends,

I bought my Analog Rytm MKII in February 2020 Bstock.
Since starting using this machine, I have never enjoyed the sound of the BD Machines. However, on forums people just love it, which made me think that something can be wrong with it.
I compared mine with another Rytm MKII, with exact parameters for BD Classic and they sound very different.
Mine sounds weak, it lacks low end and has some strange resonance movement in mids.

I am very frustrated as I don’t know whether it is my paranoia or the rytm really has a problem.

I very much hope that you can give me an advice.

I am attaching recording of BD classic with the parameters I used :

TRIG : Velocity = 100 ;
SRC : TUN = -11; SWT = 70; SWD = 40; DEC = 47; WAV = 0; HLD = 127; TRA = TIC3; LEV = 127;
No Sample.
FLTR : FRQ = 105; TYP = LP2
AMP : OVR = 3;
No LFO

No fx, distrotion, compression.
No processing in Ableton.
BPM 133

I updated the firmware and calibrated the machine.

Create a support ticket on Elektron’s website. They can advise you.

what you are describing can easily be ruled in/out by direct comparison on the device itself

it is extremely unlikely that two voice circuits are affected by the same issue or lack of calibration

but the best thing to do is this

start a new project
disconnect everything else from the Rytm
create a new empty kit

turn the default kick on track 1 to a classic

now copy that sound to the other tracks using track+copy track+paste

compare the three pads 1,2,3 using your headphones - they should sound in the same ballpark as all three of those voices support that machine

try with other machines too across the three tracks in case it is certain aspects of the sound which are different

report that if it’s clearly different

maybe consider doing a calibration if it is clearly different across the three tracks, then try again (sorry I see you did calibration already)

Thank you for the advice !

I did what you recommended, already I can say clearly that just by creating new project the machine sounds better.
Concerning comparison : I created the sound I described in the post and copied it to SD, RS and CP.

BD and SD tracks sounds exactly the same, however, RS and CP has deeper / better low end, unpleasant resonance is missing and I detect slight difference in pitch. RS and CP are pitched down by little bit.

Even Ableton’s tuner shows that BD is higher in pitch comparing to RS

but those two synthesis engines are different on track 3/4 in fact it’s actually just one voice/synth engine shared anyway as they can’t both play - one chokes the other

but essentially those tracks have a different ‘potential’ so won’t be identical, although on paper they perhaps ought to be when using the same machine

nothing to concern yourself with

If I understand correctly, I have nothing to worry about?

Except my sound design skills, lol

All of this makes me wonder if the 12 tracks sound different using the same settings on the same samples… has anyone ever tested this?

I tried this and was suprised that there was a difference at the Resonance of the Filter. But Callibration helps, now all Track Sounds already the same.
