RYTM Sample transfer?

First I want to congratulate Elektron for releasing official version of Overbridge and also to my self owning such great machines.

Second I thought we should finally get a smoother and faster way to transfer samples to RYTM +Drive with the final version of OB. But that seem not to be the case, right?
C6 is soo slow and crashes a lot

Maybe your C6 settings aren’t right?
C6 is not fast but should not crash and be “super” slow.

Didn’t find the sample transfer with OB too, though it would be on this release, maybe next time. Dunno.
If someone find the technique with that release, I’m really interested in.

Maybe you have that 150 dollar turbo midi thing. I dont.

@krusty4prez, you should be able to activate the “Turbo” option on the C6 side without the 150$ thing.

I too thought C6 was very slow : did a quick research on Google and found [url=“http://www.elektronauts.com/t/cant-select-turbo-speed-midi-setting/5377”]this thread.

After checking those on the C6 I was able to set the turbo speed.
Which is quite unusable if you can’t, I must admit.

Note that on the AR side there is also a “Turbo” option that I never manage to activate. But so far it doesn’t seem to be needed.

Also you want to set AR listening to usb only as opposed to usb+midi

start c6 after you’re usb-connected up, double check the config is right, it should be automatically (in which case turbo is already on)
do NOT toggle it - in my experience when you toggle it you lose it - even if toggled back on
that’s the only issue i have ever had with c6 in the past
if you have more than one elektron box on, best to double check the config setting to be safe

I got to try that. Ive been told ever since I bought my first Elektron that turbo was only for the TM thing. I think it says that in some manual also. From tou guys it sound like its some kind of bug or glitch in the c6 software that makes the trick?
I mean a rimshot sample may be just a couple of kilobytes, while a pad or voice sample could be 5-6 meg. Its those that have taken me forever to transfer if i had a couple of them. To a degree where I just dont think it was fun anymore.
As a har working familyman the time in the studio is very valuable. Those transfer times have just ruined creativity.

I think turbo over midi is only for the TM thing. Over USB it doesn’t need anything special (except the right buttons in the right state).

it’s sending midi over usb, it ain’t some proprietary digital connection afaik
anyway - easy to test
try a long sample with and without the turbo 10x midi boost
compare time to transfer with both
try with a turbo tm1 if you have and see if the same as usb/turbo
.
you don’t need tm1 for turbo -just two compatible Elektron ‘processors’ at each end
ie
TM1 MD
OT A4
AR C6 ?
I might be wrong - but I’m sure there’s a tonne of posts about setting the turbo up correctly, anyway, as I recall it, samples transferred much faster

im not home around my RYTM. but its a hugh bummer that sampler transfer isn’t in (i take it from the forum) version 1.0.
can you manage the samples once they are in the RYTM? as in. just drop a ton into the “incoming” folder… then move then around via overbridge?

@klerc -

c6 is unreliable. it routinely pukes during large batches of sample transfer. If you transfer <20 at a time it’s ok, but try loading up 100 samples, even all of the same type/sample rate/etc. and you never know what will happen. elektron knows this

You can’t move them around via overbridge, no.

Dataline seems to move them around on his v1.0 OB demo though??

At 3:00 on here…

It’s not the sample transfer computer -> AR Cenk is dealing with.
He’s organizing the samples of the +Drive into the project, everything is already within the AR. But that’s some “moving around” I guess

Transfer will be dealt within OB at some point, this has been said.
It’s just not here yet.

Yes exactly what I meant. Will be very good when can do the lot. I have a feeling they Previously mentioned a schedule for this and it wasn’t intended for v1.0. Can’t remember which page I read that on.

No schedule, as far as I can remember.
Plus Elektron has some passive with schedules, especially related to OB

But it was officially mentioned that this was on the roadmap, that’s for sure.
