Send fx for live set

I have an a4 mk2, a looper (rc500) and today I bought a playdifferently 1.4 mixer.
I want to add send fx
But what?

Eventide h90 feels like a fascinating possibility. But there must be done other options. My mixer has 2 fx send…

Anyone a suggestion?

I guess depending on budget… I’m personally a big fun of Collision Devices, but there are also some superCheap DigiTech multiFx that can work wonders

Looking for a Multi-FX unit?

what kind of music are you doing live?

Maybe

I play my a4, make loop on looper, mix loop to new groove, and so on.
A4; rc500; playdifferently 1.4

So dj fx are nice
But drones and extra pitch shift on send fx might create an extra layer

So I thought: eventide h90 might be cool.
But what else, suggestions for other stereo fx are welcome. I can connect 2

Are the sends stereo? Putting the looper as a send adds a good bit of flexibility, then you can can use a delay and/or reverb in the other slot. Space echo of some sort is nice, I just did a live set with an older RE-20 but the newer RE-2 looks great for saving space.

I’m a fiend for tweakable effects and zero menu diving. That’s why I got myself a UAFX Golden Reverberator and a Strymon Volante. For a live set, a delay pedal of some sort is a must.

Eventide Rose, awesome delay with presets and cool performance features like dedicated buttons for instant delay time doubling and delay reverse. Also has a LPF and tap tempo.

I have a looper on my headphone out of my a4, then from looper info a track on my mixer

If you want something really hands on, I’d recommend the Erica Ninja Tune delay. Super big, easy to grab controls.

For pitch shifting you could also get something like an Electro-Harmonix Pitchfork+.

Rickey Tinez did a video a while back comparing the Blooper as a delay and the Zen Delay where he leaned towards Blooper, and then later switched to the Habit delay, he might just use a small eurorack for his live effects now? not completely sure. h90 seem pretty nice, although I have always wondered how fun they are to actually play with live. I’ve recently been doing euro using EFFEX RT1701 for my multi fx and having a lot of fun with it as a live effect, but I suppose having to deal with a eurocase i/o to go line to euro and back might make it quite a bit of trouble but I also feel like I see small eurorack fx rigs for live decently often also.

I have a XONE 96 and a H9 , i dont know it does feel a bit stale to me. Yes the reverb sounds good, it works as send fx. (But changing the preset and accessing its controls isnt as good as i expected it - yes that seems better on the h90 unit - but i am not tempted after the h9 expierience.)

I recommended the octatrack as FX unit - because you can use it as send FX box - with 2 stereo ins and in studio mode you get als 4 out.
If you preconfigure it with 2x through channels + neighbor channels, you could setup reverb /delay /stutter fx, bitcrush + eq + filtering. A used MK1 Octatrack is probably cheaper than 2 high end pedals… and you get something what you can also bring to a party instead of the model 1.4 if you have too at some point. Yes the individual fx are not so high end as the h90 but in the end ? does it matter when you modulate the FX with the xfader you can glitch so much + its fun and allows a lot of experimentation (I wouldnt take the x96 to a party - only if its insured.) (Beer is the enemy.)

I am not sure if you have been spoiled with the octatrack in the past, because you use the RC505, but its no problem to use the OT in a simpler setup, and it adds sample playback to your rig.

If you are willing to spend the money H90 is actually the best effect for a stereo fx send, the only problem is the manual tweakability.

Recon the zen delay be good with model mixers. I had one but was a bit nosy on the HP filter mode so I returned it. The model 1s have a low cut button on returns that I recon wouldve sorted me. I couldve just used zen on LP mode and rolled of the bottom end on the model 1.

I’ve had H9 and love the Eventide sounds, but in the end I really like the playability of my Eventide Space that I got more recently. That’d be my choice - especially if you have two sends anyway. On the second I would put a delay.

Lately I’ve been using delay more and more also for sound designy and textural stuff instead of just some echos.

Do you prefer a Space over a blackhole?

Hmm, porn movie?

Did you mean Blackhole?

Yeah, because I like a couple of different algos, including also the double reverb that I use a lot. PS some others here really like the Distrorted Reverb algo or what’s it called.

The Blackhole by itself is also a nice fx though, smaller, more affordable, enough knobs compared to the H9.
