Sending samples to the MD via an A4?

I have an A4, and an MD, the MD is connected via MIDI to the A4 (MD midi in, A4 midi thru). Is it possible to send samples to the MD via C6 through the A4? I can’t seem to get it to work properly. My MD is in “waiting”-mode in the sample manager, and I think all the ports are set up correctly…

Assuming the thru on the A4 works and drops/filters nothing arriving at its DIN midi Port (not USB) then I guess it could/should be workable - I wouldn’t expect sysex to be filtered out, but who knows

Anyway, DIN not USB, so ensure to set the Port to be MIDI (as opposed to USB+MIDI to slow it down, although this step may well not be required, it won’t harm either)

I tried sending sysex to a Monomachine via a Digitakt and couldn’t get it to work. Limited notes I could find around the net suggested that the Elektrons won’t pass sysex from the USB to the thru port.

Would love for someone to tell me I’m wrong though!

nothing will pass from the usb to din midi port on elektron boxes. They do not function as a usb/midi interface.

They won’t pass midi let alone sysex. Two different MIDI busses effectively.

I am telling op to avoid USB if they want to use the Thru
