is it possible to have external instruments with a plugin for each channel so i can have one track for audio and midi in ableton when using one a4 with overbridge or would i have to have a separate midi track routed to the track hosting the plugin plus an audio track grabbing the audio from the plugin?
Hi,
you can only have one plug-in instance open at a time. So you have to route the audio & midi to the plug-in-track / audio track. 
what a pitty 
You can always buy a second A4 
Maybe you can setup a nice template, so you do not have to route everything again everytime you want to start fresh.
hehe. no i am not 100% convinced by it. a second rytm would be way better 
yes i just redid my system and wanted to make a nice init template.
