I never knew it was a real person behind the Belle & Sebastian song. Seems like a person who probably had an influence on what many of us listened to over the years more than any single artist.

At school, he listened to music on a portable radio in class, convincing teachers it was a hearing aid and he was slightly deaf.

He signed the Ramones and The Smiths. Enough said.

Wow, he played a roll in signing some of the most influential artist of the past 50 years. Legend. RIP
