Sidechain-Routings in Overbridge 1.10

Hi,
Just wondering: Is it really useful to route Sounds from your DAW through A4 or AR via Overbridge 1.22? I played a little along with it and found that the sound is not better compared to some software Plugins (eg. Soundtoys). So are you using the new Sidechain function? What Do you route through it? Whats the difference in sound when comparing it to normal Plugins for Filter, Overdrive, Chorus, Delay etc.?

Im also experimenting to route the OT via an A4/AR with overbridge, because I would like to mangle samples from my DAW via OT. Elektron is suggesting to route AR -> A4 -> OT in the manual, but I found this setup not optimal. Any suggestions how to route those three in conjunction with Overbridge?

Greetings,
Goat

Can’t really help you with the OT stuff, seeing as I don’t use one, but the routing of audio to my Rytm is definitely my favourite feature of the new overbridge/os updates.

Depends on what you’re looking for and your personal taste I guess, but I’d been trying to get some of the grit and heft of vintage samplers - think SP-1200/s950 - in software for a while now, mainly for use on disco/funk/soul loops … and not really getting very far. The combination of Decimort as bit crusher and the Rytm’s drive/distortion and filters is just the ticket, I think it sounds great.

I don’t see myself using the effects, have verbs/chorus and delay that I prefer, just a little bit of drive to crunch things up - plus I don’t think even the best soft filters, say The Drop / Filterfreak / UAD Moog, are quite as good as an analogue circuit.

Also looking forward to using the A4 as a filter bank, should be endless fun.
