Slaving Digitone to Octatrack

Hi,

Am trying to drive my (new) Digitone from my Octatrack.

I do this already with my (small) modular setup, so am very familar with the standard Octatrack Thru machine setup, not forgetting to add the trig at the start of the pattern etc.

So I was hoping to do something similar with the Digitone.

I have set Octatrack Midi Sync Transport/Send and Clock/Send to on, then looked in the Digitone Midi settings where equivalent Transport/Receive and Clock/Receive settings seemed to be on by default.

But starting the Octa, no response from the Digitone (although the modular starts fine).

I understand that there is also a “Midi Pattern Sync” option between Elektron machines, but wanted to leave that aside for now whilst I get the basics working.

Should the above Midi Sync Transport + Clock settings be enough to slave the Digitone’s clock to the Octa, or what am I missing ?

TIA

sometimes, you gotta check the midi cables are plugged in right. :vulcan_salute:

Here’s checklist for the required settings.

Connect MIDI Out of OT to MIDI In of Digitone (DN).

On the OT:

  • In the PROJECT > MIDI > SYNC menu, activate TRANSPORT SEND and CLOCK SEND.

On the DN:

  • In the SETTINGS > MIDI CONFIG > SYNC menu, activate CLOCK RECEIVE and TRANSPORT RECEIVE.

  • In the SETTINGS > MIDI CONFIG > PORT CONFIG menu, set INPUT FROM to “MIDI”.

I missed the last item. Many thanks!
