The more expensive part is appealing, the rest isn’t. Imagine you ask ChatGPT :what’s the most expensive mono sampler in the world and the answer is Elektron Digitakt. Priceless!
As you describe a + model, I would pass, but…
Give me a Digitakt with built in battery, velocity sensitive pads, stereo sampling and a granular machine and I’m a happy man. While you’re at it, redesign the audio output stage so the Left & Right outs and the Headphone outs can be independent and can be configured so you can do DJ style cue output while a sequence is playing, or simply as 4 independent mono outs.
Oh and give us the option to do class compliant usb 10in 4out audio interface that will work with an iPad or computer without the need for Overbridge. Put a usb-c port on it too.
Class compliant USB disk mode to manage samples would also be a boon for those of us who would like to manage samples from an iPad too.
Tell the AI to program you digitakt plus and it will show you half an octatrack mkII
all that sounds really great, but suspiciously like a mkII. that’s kinda my point, if it’s not a mkII is it worth it?
I’d rather they didn’t. While the Syntakt’s screen makes the Digitakt’s look “old”, I think the Digitakt’s is easier on the eyes. More RAM would be an upgrade for sure, but if it means that newly released machines start to only be available for the Digitakt+ and not the Digitakt then that’s a bad thing in my view.
Stick with the existing Digitakt, then give us a significant upgrade in the form of a mk2.
Plus, how many concurrent products can a company like Elektron really manage? Adding the supply chain and software delivery demands for a Digitakt and Digitakt+ SKU seems like a bad move.
I think this is best for everyone. Transition models never work out well.
Built in Analog Heat+FX on my DT pleazerz
I love so much my DT as object being part of my life than I will never sell it to replace by a new fancy model. I can add a new DT+ if it really add something the DT have not but my DT stay home. For that reason I don’t wait that much for a MKII or something
I agree with this, the white is clean looking but those yellow screens are quite iconic and very easy stare at for hours.
Digitakt is a very fine piece of design all round and quite possibly my desert island synth. I’m going to be away from home for a week soon and it’s a toss up for me whether to take the takt or the OT, you’d think it would be easy to choose the OT but there’s just something that feels right about the 'takt.
as a matter of preference I like the low fi appeal of the yellow or lime, however you read the color. at an angle and in the dark it’s easier on my eyes.
That’s a very interesting and crucial topic… White or yellow? Yellow or white?
prefer yellow
I just purchased my (second) Digitakt so now it is for certain the MKII will be announced.
I prefer the white on black text of my Syntakt display. So much so I orderd a white on black screen for my ancient Kurzweil K2000.
digitakt+fx
I think the new DT will have white screen and it should be battery powered to keep up with the current trend.
Just no handle please. I just can’t take another recall.
Lol, no, I expect it to be integrated inside the enclosure. It would be awesome to be able to take the DT to jam or sample outside the studio.
Gold screen rules.
White screen drools.
The next versions will have a slightly smaller bezel just to screw with OCD people.
The Digitakt is currently $100 off at basically every retailer, which leads me to think an MKII might actually be on the horizon.
I don’t know where you saw that, but I quickly checked and here in Europe the price is still the same…
I don’t think we will see an mk2 until next year.
