Sound lock via CC... possible?

hi there,

i use the digitone but not his sequencer, i’like to know if it’s possible to address the sound pool and drive sound changes via CC or do i have to adress program change via chanel MIDI 10 to the digitone?

thanks

Olivier

i don’t think either suggestion can work

but if teh DN has a multimap system you may be able to set that up and drive it externally - there’s no way besides that to address sound locks remotely

sorry Avantronica but what is a DN?

Digitone.

And no you can’t, but seeing as every patch uses the same engine and all parameters are accessible via CC you could technically use CC’s to recreate the patch per step for similar sound lock thingy.

So no and yes. Depends on how much time you fancy spending rebuilding patches inside a different environment. Might be worth it if you can save the CC settings.

DN = Digitone, DT = Digitakt

Not tried this myself but I had an idea that might work if you only want the sound to change on certain steps. So, maybe try a trigless lock on the desired steps and use them to switch the sound for that step. FUNC + trig if I remember rightly for a trigless lock or trigless trig, if that makes sense.

hahaha you’re crasy mate

no unfortunatly i try it before on the digitone with trigless lock but it doesn’t work

but why the solution would not be to use another canal on MIDI chanel 10 to change the program change on different moment of the sequence. Cirklon is able to do it i think…

It will work ha! Maybe you could even midi learn the settings.

You are aware that program change on an Elektron machine means pattern change and not sound change, aren’t you?

i was not i assume it’s why we can’t use the soundlock on trig option.
but it’s still possible to use “classic” sound change by changing pattern edites with differents sound on it isn’t it?

That’s not possible “per step” like a sound lock (minimum change length is 2 when the internal sequencer is running) and the new pattern will start again on step 1.

Additionally this will change the sounds on all tracks. So to utilize this you may need to prepare tons of patterns with all the sound combinations you need/want.

Isn’t this exactly what the multi map feature can overcome? I’ve never used it myself but I’m certain you can use it to access multiple sounds on a track and even multiple sounds per step. DN even had a global multimap channel so I’m assuming this also means you can control things externally. Info should be in the manual for the current firmware 1.21

Yes, the new multi map feature supports now triggering different sounds by sending notes to the Digitone.

From the manual:

INT.TRIG sets the chosen keyboard range to control specific Sounds from the Sound pool or the +Drive Sound library.

But note: the multimap is a global functionality. So you cannot configure it differently for different patterns.
