Status update on Digitakt OS

I’ve had zero issues with DT since purchased running OS 1.04…

however…

I use DT w/ SP1200… but have to manually sync them (which is not easy due to SP’s erratic time clock). Is it at all possible to sneak into the update a MIDI note re-assignment for DT tracks 1–8? Be great if we can customize the note numbers on DT to match other legacy drum machines w/ fixed assignment (particularly a super sampling percussion machine: E-mu SP1200)

For the love of god… please include a Song Mode and or Chain Save Mode.

Thank You… over and out!

Peace to the whole Elektron / DT family — happy holidays!

Lack of back-up feature or even save mode to an external drive is the absolute pits. The most detrimental decision they made was to exclude a SD card slot for saving sounds and projects. Let’s hope this new update allows access to do so. At least offer a TRANSFER update where you can send files and project files to cpu to store on a jump drive.

even my kid’s Nintendo Switch and 2DSXL have micro SD card slots for crying out loud.

With lack of micro SD card slot (worst decision you folks could’ve ever made) and no way to currently back-up project files… is there a possible ELEKTRON USB 2.0 drive that will act as a 1gb+drive storage device for DT? Any plans for this… probably with DT MK2 version will include micro SD card slot… then we’ll all have to sell our DT mk1 on ebay for spare change. Love the DT but what do we do once the drive is full? Please help!

Somebody post some killer beats they made from the DT please, that will redeem the thread.
(and show what it can do in its current status)

I thank them for nothing. Elektron should thank me for the money I gave them and for the ongoing trust I have, that they will fix their mess.
They depend on us, the customers, not vice versa.
One should not forget that…

Fair enough to be pissed.
They haven’t delivered on time.
Simple as that

If I get a shitty tasting meal, I whine about it - I even warn others online to not go to that restaurant. If I buy a car that’s a lemon, I whine about it and make sure everyone knows not to buy that car.

And if I buy a sampler that doesn’t do what it is advertised to do, I sure as hell whine about that too and make sure everyone knows the manufacturer is not delivering what they are selling.

I bought my Digitakt for £600.

For that price, there is NOTHING else on the market that comes close in terms of functionality and form factor. Believe me, I looked.

And this is even without Overbridge, song mode and all the other things people are complaining about.

Would I like these features? Sure. When they’re added it’ll be great.

The Digitakt is still a great value sampler. What else could you buy? An SP404? A TR8? These units are like £100 less and are far less capable.

Regarding backup options: I get why that could suck, but there’s plenty of old gear that can’t be backed up. I don’t think the Digitakt was ever intended to be the hub of a live rig. It’s more of a studio tool where you knock out an amazing beat and record it into Ableton.

I really don’t get this logic. So they have promised functionality and not delivered, but since there is nothing comparable in that price range, it doesn’t matter that you can’t saver your projects?

Digitak, digitakt, digitakt… I am lucky, all I want for Christmas is a springreverb.

There are people on here calling the Digitakt a paperweight. I just feel that’s a bit too harsh for a device which is already pretty great, especially compared to its competition.

I paid extra to be able to use midi out on the animoog app, it’s already happening

I saw a digitakt go for £400 the other day, I’m pretty surprised there’s so much of a problem for so many people. I get being frustrated about the wait but I’m sure they’d rather be playing with it now but missing some features than waiting a year for it to even be released. And if anyone’s the sort of person that would prefer the wait then why not just buy it in a year? Nobody is forcing anyone to pick up early. But yeah, I’d like to see anyone get anything close to this for the prices I’ve seen em go for, and OB is free now too

Given the focus of gaming news the past year or ten, this really isn’t true. Many AAA titles are released broken, with content missing or huge casino cash grabs, and large amounts of early access/paid beta games never launch.

It’s naive to think that people buying products before they are finished does not change said product quality.

I totally agree with that. There seems to be quite a split down the middle here. A lot of people denouncing the machine completely, which is silly, and others who can’t stop defending elektron to the death. I’m trying to stay somewhere in the middle. I love my DT, would really like to be able to at least save projects, but also, I want to get my music from the DT into my daw for further editing. That isn’t a massive ask, and it’s been a while now.

Pre-ordering games and consoles werks out.

Did you just wake up from a decade long coma or something?

Absolutely agree.

I also think it’s very smart to buy the stuff that’s being put out to pasture, like A4 mkI and AR mkI. Solid hardware, updated OS, and at a steep discount. They were the cool shiny new boxes not long ago, so nothing wrong with them now. Snatch 'em up while everybody else has upgrade fever.

Of course, I don’t always follow my own advice, but I try! :smirk:

In my opinion pre-ordering works fine, until it doesn’t. As long as there is trust between seller and buyer, pre-ordering would be fine. I’ll pre-order a record from Jaun Atkins because I trust him. But it seems Elektron is eroding that trust for a lot of buyers. So, pre-ordering for Elektron probably won’t work so well in the future. Action, reaction.
