I love the form factor and workflow of my DT but often wish it were more expressive. My limited time with an AR felt quite performative and expressive thanks to performance macros and scenes.
Since the ST has DN/AR style macros (velocity, modwheel, breath, and aftertouch) i’m wondering if it’d be possible to hook up an external pad-based midi controller with aftertouch to approximate Rytm style performance macros.
I know it can be done with knobs, I’m just curious if it’d be possible with pads and Aftertouch. (I guess you’d end up triggering the sound on the initial press, though.)
In my head I’d dream of something like a Faderfox MX12 (faders= track volume, knobs = modwheel etc), but also with a row of pads beneath for AT
