i am not point out any thing about st is not good. and my understand of all round! in the fusion was 50:50.
and this one is more drum. it is ok! i still like it!
Itās ādrum (computer and synthesiser)ā, not ā(drum computer) and (synthesiser)ā.
Iām going to keep moaning (about this already pretty great machine) until thereās a few more upper frequency synth machines.
ST needs its own personality, rather than as a āpoor mansā $1100 cut down RYTM
Itās not a Drumtakt
People need to stop smashing the Syntakt for things it was never marketed as.
its all-around music box that can do all the above.
- it does have a harmony machine.
- it can do bass sounds/lead lines or what ever.
Example: Nord Drum -> I can create harmonies and leads and percussive sounds too. (minus the sequencer)
Itās not a polyphonic synth, itās a drum synthesizer that goes well beyond just percussive duties.
Rant
I think if people are gonna complain about this instrument, thatās been out for a week they need to come with examples of the crazy-ass sounds theyāve made so far and examples of the similar-but-even-more-crazy-assed sounds they have made on other gear that the ST is holding them back from making. The first set need to be āwoah, how did you even get that from the STā level crazy before anyone listens to the second set.
You didnāt underline āSyntakt is a drum specialistā¦ā
because I am trying to point st is more drum. please read my word. i m not saying st any bad. just point it is more drum than 50:50.am i wrong?
Iāve only had my ST a few days but Iām not having any problem doing melodic or harmonic things with it at all. And seeing as you can use the ādrumā voices melodically, and you can use the āsynthā voices percussively I reckon you could argue that it is 50-50. It can be whatever you want it to beā¦
You think the ot is elegant? I dig the ot, but you and I, sir, differ wildly in our definition of the word āelegantā.
Yes it is more drum oriented, and this is exactly what the copy states that you posted. I donāt understand what youāre confused about.
Haha, ok. Elegant as in: āyou can switch instantly between slide and non-slide trig, as opposed to sacrificing LFOsā.
Yay.
Another thread about how the Syntakt isnāt a prophet 5 or whatever.
Even if the Syntakt had zero ādrumā capabilities it would be a pretty nice little mono synth. That said yes itās obviously a drum synth first and foremost, and a synth synth second. Elektron made that clear. Also since when is polyphony a requirement for ANY synth? I swear these threads are getting dumber and dumber.
I was expecting more of a vermona perfourmer
maybe i shouldnāt say anything at first. just shout: st is God. everybody happy!
so iām also sure that it should primarily represent a drum synth and thatās a good thing - at least for me. at first i was very skeptical, but at the moment iām of the opinion that it sounds the best of all previous elektron devices when it comes to drums. thereās a lot of steam coming out. hereās an example, although iām not a richard devine fan. and you have to think that nothing is mixed hereā¦ the sound is really nice. I have to have this thing, very urgently. maybe itās just GAS, and opinion will change completely once Iāve tested it, but this oneās really phat.
I would like to use it to control an external synth, does anyone know if four voices are possible at the same time? so play at least one chord?
which is probably an absolute killer feature, that on the master there is something from the heat at the start and an analog filterā¦and I can smuggle external stuff through it.
Marketing shouldnāt be scrutinised too much, you have to be honest with yourself that itās just not meant to be interpreted as a bona fide normal melodic synth in essence - itās got a drum focus front and centre and there are extra strings to its bow that allow you to be melodic
Youāll enjoy it more for seeing it in a fairer light, rather than being disappointed itās missing things it was never conceived to have
That being said, iād always hanker for more synthesis control, but itās a device with focus and itās built on existing platforms in any case
Iād gladly welcome additional parameters, but i just donāt see it as likely as it might be on a melodic synth-centric device
To be fair, it does say drum specialist in their blurb
Enjoy what it is and look into workarounds if you need to
i just compare st to mnm a4 digi and said not that as serious as. i m not saying st any bad.
Seriously Iām about to log out and not come back to this place for a solid couple of months. For every useful or interesting post thereās a dozen people either complaining about the Syntakt not being Ableton 11 or having a complete existential crisis about which drum machines they should own. I mean I guess it is a gear forum first and foremost, but itās tipped to being quite toxic lately.
ok
everyone!
my bad.
i should NOT talk about any of a new star
i apologize!
