Synthstrom Audible Deluge [inc. Open Source development]

No problem Pete. I hope it made my rambling text replies make a little more sense!

Thanks Neil, your replies were certainly not rambling, they were very informative and straight to the point.
Now, I need to have a little conversation with the family that my purchase of the Deluge can be justified as their birthday present to me :cheeky:

Haha, good luck!

Iā€™ll ask here as the Synthstrom forum is pretty low traffic.

Is there a bug with kits saving? I made a drum kit using synth engines, held kit pressed save, named it, display said done, but after power cycling the kit does not appear in the list. Or am I doing something wrong? @Alowhum @iceritchie ?

Not aware of any bugs on this. Iā€™m presuming clip view and does it say done when saved?

@iceritchie I powered on, pressed shift + kit to make new kit, made a kit using synthesis, then held kit and pressed save, naming dialog came up, typed name, pressed enter, display said done.
When I turned it back on the kit wasnā€™t there, it supposedly saved to kit46, but I only had upto kit45 after power cycle.

Thanks for the reply - no one seems to answer questions on the deluge forum, pretty frustrating.

Strange one. Iā€™m presuming SD Card is ok. Also is this a one off or a common thing

Yeah SD card is fine, believe it or not it happened twice! Meaning both times that I spent making the kits were time wasted, the first time it happened I thought it was perhaps user error, the second time I thought maybe a bug.

Edit: Both times it happened were today, I recently updated to the 3.1. Iā€™m wondering if it is to do with not having any samples in the kit, just synthesis.

Which Facebook forum did you post on? Are you on the beta One?

Just a wild guess here but have you tried saving the sequence after saving the patch?

Iā€™m also on 3.1 having fun w/ note repeat and timing shift, trying to figure out the live looper.

Not facebook just the official forum, I donā€™t have a Facebook account.

Ok let me check this out. So you created a synth kit?

Yes, just used FM and the virtual analog, here is a clip of it:

@iceritchie I think it is definitely a bug, I found out how to avoid it:
If you save by holding kit then pressing save, naming option comes up, type name, when name is typed if you press return (grid pad amount or note on qwerty keyboard) it says done, leading you to believe it has saved. This does not save it.

To make sure it saves do all the same but after naming instead of pressing return on qwerty, press save button instead, now the really really weird thing is if you did it the first way first, then do it this way it will say ā€œoverwrite?ā€ (assuming the same name is used, ie backspace the 2 suffux) This indicates that the name was saved, but not the actual data.

Edit: Nope, I was wrong, it still does not save, after power cycling the kit is gone.

Dang boo definitely sounds like a 3.1 bug :-1:t4:

What if you tried saving multiple iterations of the patch 46, 46.a, 46.b etc then also save the pattern sequence, does it recall?

Also @darenager whereā€™d you get that fancy Deluge overlay?

@Skintechnician the overlay is from Mxpand

Right, even more weirdness, if I save the kit as above, then save the song too (even though I didnā€™t want to as it was just a single pattern for building the kit) then the kit saves with the song as kit46. But load a different song, or start from scratch and kit46 isnā€™t available.

Here is a picture, it is nice because it has knob shortcuts too.

Update: It wasnā€™t a bug, it was me holding kit then pressing save, rather than holding save and pressing kit. The confusion came because doing it the way I was doing was actually saving the song, however the Synthstrom guys got to the bottom of it and will fix it so that it canā€™t happen.

Ha, kind of a shame as I made a nice kit, still now it is solved I guess Iā€™ll just make a better one

Great to hear. Note the new release with some bug fixes ( not this of course) has gone out today. For completeness, and other peopleā€™s ref, saving kits is here in the manual.

Thanks @iceritchie for your help.

I have the bound version of the manual and checked in the kit section but it wasnā€™t there, I did not think to check basic operations section, even though it is logical. BTW I like the idea of the sections for user notes in your manual, very handy!
