Implement Midi retrig please! It can be done on audio tracks, so why not midi? It would add so much to the flexibility of the unit.
I just pulled out the Digitakt for the first time in quite a while and spent the last evening playing with it on the sofa. Iād forgotten just how fun and quick to use it is and how great the results sound ā I love the Octatrack but I find you always need to be thinking about what you want to achieve, whereas the DT is much more playful and I always end up with an interesting result, even if I wasnāt feeling very inspired.
Playing with it again, there are three things that jump out that would really make it quite a perfect machine. I picked these three because they are the ones that I feel hold me back or frustrate me somewhat when using it, and hopefully because they are not beyond the realms of possibility to implement in an intuitive way:
Some kind of ākit-likeā functionality
It doesnāt have to be kits ā Iād rather not think about the number of times Iāve screwed up on the older machines and messed up a kit which was used elsewhere or whatever, Iām sure there is a more intuitive solution ā but some way of achieving the goal of sharing the same sounds across more than one pattern would be really great.
I find this limitation holds me back from expanding my ideas beyond a single loop, because the way I work I know that a copy of the pattern will end up āout of syncā and Iāll have to manually copy the changes over. Also when moving from one pattern of a song to the next, more often than not I donāt want the sounds to reset to how they are in the new pattern (I like my music to be quite evolving). Itās a shame because the DT is such a great creative device otherwise, but I still end up āstuck in a loopā.
A second filter
Just the ability to add a simple high pass after the low pass or something, to allow us to clear up the bottom end of lowpassed samples etc. The way it works on the Digitone is perfect. I know thereās less DSP to play with here but this would make a big difference for me, resampling all the time to achieve this is a PITA.
A second LFO
Speaks for itself, you can get some awesome effects with the LFO e.g. modulating loop points, but then I canāt also LFO the filter cutoff or the pan or whatever, which again ends up making my music sound more static than Iād like.
Oh, a bonus one thatās not such a big deal would be a shortcut to start recording at the same time as playing, so you donāt need to crop sample start all the time when resampling!
Iām hopeful that weāll get another feature update for this device, after the great Digitone update recentlyā¦ fingers crossed the Elektron wizards figure out how to squeeze a little more from this awesome device Not the end of the world if not, I just always think itās a shame when a few small things hold back somethingās potential!
iād like to see a basic voice routing section in the DTās OB interface, similar to the AKās gui but showing just the 8 track/voice toggles. Would mean not having to go menu diving on the DT.
(AKās voice routing section pictured for ref)
Whatās the difference between not routing a voice (track?) to the FX bus and simply not sending any of that voice to the delay and reverb?
So the master is wet-only when used in OB
This would be really helpful to have a feature that locks samples used in projects to prevent them from being deleted.
Or at least a warning message. This sample is used in a project. Are you sure you want to delete it? Etc etc
I think an app from someone on here called elk heard can help with this
Is there any chance that Digitakt will have a parametric equalizer per track? why do I need hardware, since I have to use a computer to do eq, I would not want to sell it because it is really cool.
an extension of the memory.
Playback directions for more instant inspiration
You currently can change the playback direction. Or did you mean something different?
or just a 3 band EQ per track would be cool enought
if you could change the frequency, 3 bands would be enough, I do not understand why Digitakt does not have such an EQ from the beginning, this is the basis!
My guess is that they mean the direction of the sequencer, not individual samples. Like the SQ-1. It would definitely be a nice feature, especially when using 8 or 16 step length patters, on the SQ-1 it is ultra fun to lay down an acid pattern with slides while you work the step jump mode and time the changes to playback direction just rightā¦ thatās when youāre really in it! Would be awesome to do on the DT! SQ-1 is a different animal and much more immediate even than the DT but I think it would still work.
If weāre requesting reverse playback on the sequencer, I want random playback added in too
@craig or me too I think like you. Inspired by the Squid
it would be really cool because it does not seem to me to have seen it on another Elektron.
That would be incredible with the parameters locks.
I would like to know if it is possible via the update?
And something else but super cool by selecting a sample, in what pattern it is played.
Create a pop-up window with this data when the cursor points to the sample title
Awesome for us !
I would like to know if it is possible via the update?
Yeah, it would be awesome if every time the sequencer resets then a new sequence order is chosen at random. Iād record the results into a DAW for 20 minutes, then chop out the bits that I could never have thought of myself.
If it was implemented on both Digis it would be jaw dropping - especially DN because of the way voices are stolen during particularly hectic bits
Super
For my part, I manage to find interesting phases by making internal samples.
So i re-cut the interesting parts to replay them with others in order to arrive at something correct.
Itās long and sometimes impossible
I hope an update on this with a sequencer drift system.
To open new horizons with DT: DN: MS
I also insist on a popup page indicating the pattern or patterns where a sample is played
For a quick decision to delete samples ,in real time
