What about static lfos, modulations? (Pitchbend, Aftertouch, Modwheel, BreathControl, Velocity). Velocity can be modulated with Control All, or recorded on 1 track…
Features I’d like to see implemented, even though this machine is already incredible :
-WAY more depth on SYN Toy, or other physical modeling machines. One of the first reasons why I got the syntakt is physical modeling.
-Shorter delay time for nasty karplus.
-More resonance on the filters !!! I find pinging very weak when using the pulse machine, even with distortion cranked to eleven.
-Some way to play polyphony using multiple tracks ?
-Microtonal tunings in keyboard mode, though you can work this around with P-locking the tuning knob.
Edit 1:
-Some way to sort sounds by analog or digital type, in the sound pool and manager. Or is there a way to do this that I’ve misread ?
Edit 2:
-Adding a level of confirmation for clearing track/pattern/sound (Clearing pattern y/n ?).
That’s it !
What I’d really want to see happen on many machines, is a way to trigger Patterns from external midi notes (note pitch determining the pattern number) with an option to control the pattern On/Off with the incoming Midi Gate On/Off.
No machines have this kind of behaviour and it would add a lot of value to external Midi control!!!
That is very very similar to midi program changes. You can add trigs that will change the pattern, if you make them conditional to FILL it will wait to change the pattern until you hold the fill button while the trig plays.
I’m not sure I get what you mean. I know about PC but the problem with PC is that it can’t be attached to notes. It’s generally on sequencers, a parameter that’s determined on the basics of the track/pattern, meaning that it’s called at the start of the track/pattern.
What I want to accomplish, is pattern triggering from notes, in order to trigger different patterns from the same pattern of my sequencer (I have the Squarp Hapax).
With elektron stuff it is a little weird, but I know elektron devices can send program changes as trigs in the sequencer. The only issue is that the receiving device waits until they complete the current pattern (based on CH. length) before starting the next cued pattern. This is with the goal of keeping everything synced, but it makes the type of thing you want to do quite challenging. I think with something like a retrokits RK002 or other programmable midi interpreter you might be able to program something that could do what you want, taking in midi note data and executing program changes based on it.
Interesting! But the Feature Request takes all its sens now
I also know other people that’d love this kind of feature.
A4 allows you to trigger patterns from keys, in Multi Map mode. I don’t know how it handles gating, but it does have a transpose feature.
Ah really? That’d be awesome to take this feature to other products. I’d really love that.
parameter slides and arp
-more digital machines - Clangorous, PM, Wavetable etc.
-more control over delay time (shorter, finer, and decoupled from tempo) for Karplus, Flanging etc
Agreed - it would make for much faster experimentation with sequences. Also - Hi! I’m on the #snareup discord and WATMM, think I might even have gotten brunch with you at DFN in 2016 in houston. Lol. I’m Phil.
Totally agree with this and surprised more people haven’t talked about it. Haven’t tried any A/B comparisons but it sounds very quiet compared to DT/DN, less useful for huge washes of reverb. Struggling to get much out of it.
My top:
#1 Kits, or an option to designate certain tracks as pattern-agnostic as someone else suggested (similar to the options in the gear menu to make certain FX pages global)
#2 Improved Reverb
#3 Scale-locked trig page
#4 Subtle, but it would be nice if Song Mode Edit could work entirely with the [arrow] and [yes/no] keys, instead of adjusting parameters with the knobs. I think the way elektron managed the Rename menus with just those keys is absolutely perfect and wish Song Mode Edit was just as fast. It’s very good, and it’s amazing they added Song Mode at all, but that would make arrangement much snappier IMO
i d love to see the option 1/2 and 1/4 (repeats) in songmode
this way u can easily make short breaks or fills in dtead of hving to copy paste and change the lengt of a pattern
#songmode
Yes, Multi Map is great. No gate though (there is a gate feature in Machinedrum Map Editor). DigiTone also have Multi Map. It allows you to play the 128 sounds of the Soundpool with midi notes !
As you planned to use an external sequencer, maybe Digitone would suits you better…
Too late
-
Retrig on MIDI tracks, please!
-
User uploaded wavetables
-
More digital machines: Karplus strong, vocal / formant, etc
-
Noise source generator for the dual VCO machine, maybe in page 2 of the amp screen?
-
Master compressor
assignment of audio outputs, for example, divide headphones into 2 mono. or main exit. the main thing is not to encounter this audio delay in the computer)
Thank you!
in addition to the requests for more digital machines and parameter slides, I would suggest implementing trig mutes where the shortcut is to hold a step and press “func” + “bank” like you would going into regular mute mode. Trig mutes per line in song mode would also be nice.
I’m pretty sure my list is nothing that hasn’t been said already, as I haven’t had the chance to read the full thread, but..
- Track layering! Would be amazing to tie the kick to the FX block, as well as making unison sounds etc. It makes more sense to have it on the Syntakt than the Digitone, imo.
- A solo option in the mute page. Not sure how it could be implemented though.
- Pattern start offsets in song mode. It’d open the machine up so much for experimental composition.
Yeah, this seems to be the case with machines that have some kind of timbre envelope (haven’t tested with machines that also have a pitch envelope though). It’s probably just an oversight; I remember the Digitone also had some issues with new features that had to be fixed later on.
I’d like to see a few more digital kick machines, and yeah more physical modelling. It’d be fun to see some of the Machinedrum machines make an appearance but I also know that’s probably beyond the scope of the project.
Similar to you. I wish there was a way to sync/trigger LFOs to start button. Locking lfo trigger to on at step 1 doesn’t cut it. Say I want a 16 bar ramp in a 16th note scale pattern. What do I do? I have to literally make 4 patterns each with the start phase set to 0,32,64,96 and lock lfo.t to step 1… But then I’m screwed if I want the second LFO to trigger per step trigger like an envelope. Not to mention having to constantly copy over any other edits I make to 1 pattern.
Starting to doubt it will get sampling but think it’s more and more likely it will get user wavetables
Source: just been thinking about it more and I think it makes sense
