Yeah FX block is analog and then sends go into digital fx. Pretty much anything is possible they can port FX from DT and DN into ST pretty easy… it’s copy paste. Extra pages with new FX types in send/return fashion and possibly even insert operation would be a good addition. With insert you can create heavy processing. I am not sure if FX block can be upgraded so we get proper analog comp for instance (bus comp style) or other tweaks but when it comes to FX they should be digital and I would opt for modulation/time based fx as those are mostly digital (apart from analog variations) and they can sound quite good too if used well. Maybe we could get some of the Octa FX on board too? Lofi fx. Comb filter. New reverb type etc…
I wouldn’t count on any new effects—considering the interface already lags quite heavily when operating the device with any kind of USB audio I think the Syntakt is probably close to being maxed out..
Can’t be for real?
Of course I don’t know for sure, but the lag is pretty obvious even when running class compliant USB audio.
I think that’s bugs. I haven’t used it with USB yet. If they would release a “maxed out” hardware like this then it would be to their own detriment and quite dumb actually and an oversight. Tweaking some of the analog tracks to get more machines on board is possible with less CPU bottleneck. As is adding digital machines that will also require CPU power and that just needs better input hardware on inception. If it wouldn’t be able to handle it already which I doubt. So I believe FX is truly possible. As are new analog/digital machines and possibly other tweaks. If not then it’s a failed machine.
Just want to throw in my “vote” for:
- ability to lock the note choices to a scale on the Trig page. (and when played by external midi keyboard?)
- more physical modeling. Not necessarily ultra-realistic sounds, but something along the lines of all those cool clanging metallic Nord Drum sounds. Basically, I am wishing for a tiny Nord Drum inside the Syntakt.
- master glue compressor
- sample player, “UW” machine (would love to add some simple dub techno stab samples)
- better/more synth sound possibilities from the chord machine. Chord machine design itself is great, but the sound seems really weak to me.
- chorus effect from DN. More fx are always welcome! Lofi stuff, bitcrush, tape, etc.
- micro-tuning
- direct jump pattern change
- more functions for the Modifier buttons. Glitchy stuff? Elektron’s take on Scatter fx?
- ability to include/exclude specific tracks when using control-all function
I need a 3 osc.subtractive synth with
Knobs 1-3 - Oscillator tune
Knob 4 - Voice spread or chorus effect
Knobs 5-7 - Osc. waveform (better versions of the chord machine)
Knob 8 - Overdrive
+1
I think my biggest wish is for an option for track params to be global when in song mode, like the mixer and fx track can be now.
Physical Modeling Machine pleeeease!
After a trip down memory lane with a friend’s MDUW, I have to say I really miss both compressor and the crunch of 12 bit in both the voices and reverb. On Syntakt I think bitrate reduction could be a switchable option (per voice) like on Roland D-05 or Isla S2400. Love the Bits and Clap machine bit reduction options but it doesn’t totally scratch the itch for me, i prefer it to be more subtle. I sometimes think our ears like lofi impressions of drums like 8 or 12 bit more - more punch and less extra information
Yeah. This is the whole KITS thing people have been going on about forever. I agree.
I always find that the metronome volume is to low even when set to the highest volume. So my feature request is that it should be louder.
I think it’d be cool to have the modifiers be able to affect an entire pattern rather than an individual track. Maybe this is already there and I haven’t discovered it but I think this would add some great live variation.
Thinking about the polyphony thing - a nice way they could do it is to let you ‘link’ tracks. So that they all share common sound parameters and a MIDI channel. That’d be nice and not require any additional voices
Even nicer of you could group eg two tracks so they share parameters and voices, but could still use the second track for external midi.
I’m sure this has been brought up before, but after spending a few hours on sound design, I really would like a third LFO, or, even better, an envelope with a cycle option.
I find that I constantly want to do a few subtle things like a little panning or pitch movements, on top of the more deliberate timbre-shaping LFO tweaks.
Syntakt Owner / Appreciator
I’d like to see the following added
- Unlock the Square Wave in the SY DUAL VCO synth, or give us a VA equivalent with a square wave.
- Physical modeling synth
- Arpeggiator
- Chorus effect
- 2 Additional reverb algos
Since you can modulate the delay time, how about a crossfading mode for the delay time modulation instead of a pitched one?
You can get some cleaner crisp modulated delay sounds with a mode like this, think along the lines of Karplus-Strong synthesis method.
With the ability to feed the delay into the filter, I think it would be nice to open up a feedback loop option for karplus, and maybe even add a proper karplus Syntakt machine so we can let the delay be a delay sometimes
