Track mute not muting track?

So this is a new one that’s got me stumped. I have track 8 being sequenced and played via MIDI - but I can’t mute the track. Whether I use global or pattern mute it doesn’t mute. Not sure how else to explain it. Even if I mute all tracks I can still hear track 8 playing.

The other tracks mute fine. And I can control the level of track 8 using the mixer and level controls.

Anyone know what the deal is?

Edit: Ok I think I’ve worked it out, it’s muting the sequence, not the audio? And because it’s being sequenced externally, it doesn’t do anything?

Got it, and it makes sense when I think about how the audio reacts to the muting! I’ve never sequenced a track externally before so never really thought about it like this :slight_smile:

It’s like when you mute a track and press the pad you still hear a sound - as you said, the internal sequencer is turned off, but because an external device is sequencing, you can still hear the sound. :slight_smile:
