Trance gate effect

Could anyone offer suggestions as to how I can create a trance gate? For example, I want to be able to to trigger a chord sound that lasts for 2 bars and then be able to rhythmically chop/gate the sound (like in classic trance)

Square waveform LFO assigned to volume?

Another way is to use the neighbour oscillator to receive audio from the track above, and use the step sequencer to gate the signal.

Could you explain a bit more how I set this up? Cheers

On track 1 set up a basic / default sound with a single, long note.

On track 2 turn down the amp for Osc 1 and set Osc 2 to Nei (Neighbour). Turn up the amp for osc 2.

Now you will hear track 1 through the track 2 filters whenever a step on track 2 is triggered. (for the proper effect you will need to turn down the main level of Track 1, otherwise you can hear both tracks at once).

Now that track 1 is playing through track 2, it’s possible to gate the sound rhythmically. The length of each note and the amp envelope will determine how much of track 1 you hear.

This means you now have stacked filers (4 in total) and can send the gated signal to the FX.

It’s a good tip, but it’s kinda the opposite to a trance gate effect.

Somewhere on a forum…7 years later😂

I do enjoy a good bounce

Tis the season for necromancy

Hmm, maybe I’ve set it up wrong

Now I gotta try that with the mk2 right away - thx for necromancing!

How did you get Paulstretch out of an LFO?

(the opposite of a trance gate)
